unless it has 13K in used bank notes in the boot then its not worth it...Who would really buy this car with such damage even after a "good repair"?

I have just wasted 10minutes of my life reading this, thats 10minutes of quality subaru driving time that has gone! without being to disrespectful and treading on peoples toes i think you are asking for alot!! You must of got a payout from thr insurance and it probably didnt cost to much to buy it back< drop the price to a sensible figure and get shot of a car that somebody is willing to restore. Just my Advice

i would say that as a spanking low milage example, it would be worth 22k
knock a third off for cat d = 14k
approx 4k to do a proper job to put it right would make it worth around 10k
just my opinion

carlos..

would he not be better to break the car for parts? or put it up or sale for about 8-10k max
as people who would be willing to spend this on a scoob, would be some one to keep as a collectors, like the 22b, or the odd 1 or 2 mint escort cossys, so to buy a damaged repair job would never really make any sense, so then you down to some one wanting it to make into a track car, n then u may as wel buy a wrx blob and build from there?

its a tricky one!

You onyl need a VIC on Cat C damaged vehicles, and it doesn't check the quality of the repair. Its called a Vehicle Identity Check.

anyhow 2 pages long now of why people think it is not worth that kinda money so i think he gets the point and has passed that onto his boss.

best of luck what ever happens with the car.

but surely if 1500 will fix the car then he gets his money for the car plus the money for the repair job so he is getting his asking price unless maybe the 1500 wont fix the car if so i understand why he wont accept the offer of around 14000 fixed

i understand what your saying BUT the op said that they could fix the car for 1500 so if this is true then he IS getting nearly the money he wanted ,i find it strange that he is being offered nearly the amount of money asked for BUT now wont take it UNLESS the 1500 figure was used as a sweetner for a buyer that it would not take a lot to repair

or i am i missing something , maybe i misread the other posts?

Such a shame. As has been said it has lost its appeal to an enthusiast as a special edition being a cat D. Even ignoring that the car is not worth more than £8-10k.

Good luck with sale but you will get more by breaking it, which really is a shame. £13-15k he's dreaming.

Thats a lot of work...Is it really worth that much in pieces?

I think you could get 9-10 for the unrepaired lot. Put it on ebay from 8k onwards.

mate either sell for under 10k and as said pop it on ebay for 8k and let it go for whatever it gets

or break it, i am sure there will be a lot of interest in parts.

engine, gearbox and prop etc, interior, wheels and a few other bits should see you near 8k i would of thought. then the body pannels, lights, suspension, brakes it wont be long before you have a nice healthy figure in the bank.

best of luck.

and i have to ask what is the paint code for the rb320 as if its 32j i am on the look out for the top rear roof spoiler and would have that off you as i am still waiting to hear back about one i had been offered,

cheers

Of course he isnt, because he know as well as everyone else on here does, that its going to cost a lot more than £1500 to repair, and even then the car wont fetch anywhere near £15K!!

I have an RB320 .... took 9 months to find the right one .... and have been closely watching the prices of them (privately, dealer etc etc) for over a year now, including a couple of cat D ones .... find it quite amusing/insulting that someone thinks he can ask that sort of money for a damaged car .... must think we are all idiots!!

Given that its a limited edition car, people will only pay a premium on these cars if they are (near) perfect .... I think you are actually less likely to get decent money on something like this repaired than you would on a standard car. However, I reckon it would make a fortune broken .... it has a lot of parts as standard that are very sought after (6 speed gearbox being a key one) and also a few that, as they are only on the 320, are as rare as a rare thing .... if it has the leather/alcantara interior, I reckon you could get more for that second hand than it cost new!!
