ok guys my car is officially doing my head in!
drove it fine all day today, boosting fine, temp gauge staying normal, heaters blowing hot air etc...
just now though i got home after a 2 min drive to the petrol station, after letting my turbotimer do its thing i got out of the car and started to walk away when i heard loud bubbling. i popped the bonnet and there was hot water being chucked out of the overflow tube and formed a nice little puddle on my drive. temp gauge didnt rise one bit. i dont understand why this is happening when the car has no other symptoms? why why why?
anyone got petrol and matches?

A word of advice - my hoses arrived today and it's all fitted on now. The hoses I got were not samco, unknown brand and while they are ok, some of them were a bit un-even and they are very stiff, it was very difficult to get some of the more awkward ones on. A mate had a bit of samco hose that we used for one section and it is much more flexible and evenly made so, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for. I'm sure the cheaper unbranded hose is fine, but the samco does seem much easier to use so might be worth the extra for that? just my .02p

Aeahm... that is more or less what mine was doing - temp gauge stayed just below the 9 'o clock position as it always has done, but coolant overflowed into the plastic tank and didn't seem to want to come back afterwards - hence coolant loss. I only got everything fitted after dark tonight. I did go out for a test drive and gave it some welly, the temp did rise a bit more than normal on idle whilst I was checking under the bonnet but it went back down to normal VERY quickly once I got driving again (the new radiator is obviously very efficient!). Only problem was there was some steam from coolant leaking out near the top hose - I couldn't see water coming out even when revving but there was evidence in the form of residue in dripping patterns coming from that area - will have to check the clips tomorrow.
That aside, the coolant wasn't overflowing now so hopefully it was either a blocked radiator or an airlock which is now gone!?!
Hopefully the same for you - get the radiator swapped over, be sure to bleed out the coolant well and hopefully that will do it for you?
good luck!

Well I'm happy to report that everything seems to be back to normal - took it for a long drive today with plenty of boosting and the water is getting sucked back in and there are no signs of any leaks
Thanks in part to this thread and others on this forum for teaching me the correct procedure to bleed air out of the system. Be sure to do that properly once you fit your new radiator, hopefully that will fix your troubles too!
