I really like this one but would have to be custom made for mine to suit wheel size

A huge selection of arches can be found here too

http://www.absmotorsport.net/index.p...el-arches.html

thoughts would be great

the kit layed out on the floor, plus side, make it a bit easier to centrelize to the wheels m8, IMHO

Re; fibreglassing, get on google, swat up and give it a go, you've obviously got the ability to learn new things. Make up the front so the arches can just be bolted on, wouldn't be too difficult would be ultra cool too.

What size rubber bands, sorry tyres, will you be using?

Have you looked into how you'll go about registering the vehicle yet?

Like the last two pictures. What colour you thinking of going. I think the colour will make or break that kit.

right guys things are heading downa new route the bodyshell (Metal one) is being removed now and i am going dow the route of a full fibreglass shell simular too the one below so which will make life a hell of a lot easyier as further panel work today is beyond repair so i am goin to have to throw a bit of cash at it which is good as it means i will end up with a better final product seeing as to start with it will be a track car then progress from there

so we shall see what happens next really

With the amount of fabrication going on anyway - it's not really a Mini, but who cares

well tbh not a waste of as i havent yet fully joined the shell to floor pan i mean come on how was it a mini before the only diffeance is that it is a fibreglass shell and there was a fibreglass mini produced called a mini minus so still is a mini anyways it is going to produce a much better final product it just happens the shell is beyond finacial repair for its use so not a waste of time at all......... unfortunatly hindsight is a great thing and we all gotta learn one way, if i was to do it again i would build a full space frame to take everything then bolt the shell on.

This is still going to be an animal when it finished but should be a little lighter now with the fibre glass shell.

Hey all had to work this morning so only had few hours on it this afternoon then i ran out of welding wire and dont really wanna have to pay Halfrauds prices so will see what i can get in town tomoz if not i will get a 5kilo roll from suppliers on monday so will see what happens tomoz might get a load of tube cut ready to weld in, heres this afternoons pics

For all you thread ****** lol, tbh glad to see it is getting such a warm reception cheers for all the great comments Alex

remains from plasma cutting old tube out this was then flap ground down ready for welding new on

other side

Cross section gone

New main bar tacked then fully welded

then got the other half in got the reverse side to weld as i ran out of wire bloody typical

Got loads more fabricating to do to the roll cage
then gunna order the shell up so can sort the mounting points for that out

i have also decided i am going to go down the route of making my own arches how i would like them so if guys have got any pics of sprint style rear arch panels etc would like to try and incorporate that style

Cheers

I think you're doing the right thing here and I would still consider it a Classic Mini
I had two Classics and the rust was just disheartening. You don't want to be having to replace the panels on a project like this every three years.
Keep up the great work!

Please please don't put a scoop on the roof like that - hideous! I guess you won't need it anyway as that was clearly a mid engine or at the very least a rear rad mounted jobbie and you'll have the scooby up front

Hey all

Fibreglassing kit arrived yesterday so should be able to start on that soon got to build up how i want the rear arches to start then go from there on those i have got to build the arches into the rear quarter also have got to allow for a inlet in the side to allow air to the rear mounted rad, so need some ideas for that,

i went out today and brought a new auto welding mask new gloves and some welder's sleeve as my arms where being burn alive, nice tan though lol

also got a 5kg .8 mig wire for £9.25 + vat so better than halfords at £6.99 for 700g real lol or halfrauds 5kg real at £19.99

and to top that off i am out all weekend on another project which is a bugger so wont be anywhere near the workshop am affraid so will have to make up for it in the evenings

Cheers for comments
