Do You Want To Keep The NHS?
#61
The NHS should concentrate on things that will kill you, cancer, heart attacks, trauma. This should be state funded.
Everything else should be paid for. Why not? Why should I pay for lay abouts to have their hernia fixed? Or worse still for the unemployed to have their teeth fixed for free when I have to pay?
This govt even took away tax relief on private insurance, why should I pay twice? I'm relieving the burden on the NHS. While I'm at it, why is there no tax relief on private school fees.
Why can't I opt out of socialist healthcare and education system? For example the avge cost of a private school is about £10k a year, that iirc is about the same as the govt spends per child. I know which one I would rather send my kids to.
Even if its not the same amount, why can't I have the govt money and then top up? Why must I be forced to educate my children with ones who have NO interest in learning, and neither do their parents. Or pay all over again to go private.
Why must everybody be the same, at the expence of just some?

The dead hand of socialism is what what makes this country great.
Equality for all through mediocracy for all, that's my mantra!

Because I want some choice in what over 60% of my hard earned cash is spent on (estimate of income tax, vat
Council tax, inheritance, blah blah). How very very elitist of me. Tell you what, let me pay all that, and then pay again for schools and health insurance because most of the said state run institutions are not fit for purpose.
Now that's what I call a fair society.
This bloody govt also wants to remove the charitable status of private schools, unless they allow the local state schools to use their facilities!! One in 10 children go to a fee paying school. If they all stopped the govt spend on education would shoot up by 10% overnight!
Is this appreciated by socailist social engineers? Of course not.
They look for further ways to bash the honest hard working familes who dare to be aspirational.
Its immoral.

My sis works in the NHS and she has said in the past about too many managers and not enough staff, and she has been saying it for some yrs more recently over the last 3-4 yrs.Infact the derpartment that she works in will not take on anymore staff even though they need it,it's got to the point that her own health as even been suffering from the stress and pressure because she is not only having to do her own work, but having to also cover the work load equivalent of 3 other staff. Now two of her mates have left and got the same job but now working in the private health sector, now my sis as just recently past her exams so she can move up to the next level in her job.She is also now thinking about going to work in private health or just doing something else maybe forensic science or somethhing,as she just wants out of working for the NHS.Im not saying that the NHS isn't needed but it's kinda now like our benefit system it's no longer a safety net for real problems and needs.

Soon I think, if the recent ruling in Western Australia has anything to bear. Mind you, KRudd747 is trying to "save the planet" at the same time "save the health care system (Industry)" (Just like the Obamasiah in the US) and it won't cost that much, well actually the health care bit will, apparently.

There are summat like 13 million people in the US who cannot afford health care. And this is the wealthiest nation on earth.

There you go, the wealthiest nation on earth has these numbers who can't afford healthcare. The wealthiest nation, almost like Ethiopia, in terms of healthcare, has no money to pay for healthcare.

Tories abit like the recession then, getting rid of the dead wood.Whatever Labour do between now and the election, don't think it will ever be enough for people to have trust in them again. The same could go for Con but think people trust them just alot more right now than Lab.

It all goes full circle .... in 10 years time we will be witnessing the Tories having messed up for a decade and boot them out, for a New New Labour - it is as it always has been.

It is true that governments seem to get tired and less capable when they have been in power for a long time.
NL has made a major **** up and their mantra is pretty frightening anyway. As ever they have overseen the destruction of what started as a strong economy by their mindless and profligate spending and overborrowing before the recession. Their idea of redistribution of wealth has resulted in destroying it instead! Whoever the next government is, it wil, have a truly unenviable job to turn the economy around and there will not be enough time to put the economy on an even keel this time. as ever the taxpayer will be at the backend of all that and there is little to look forward to for some time ahead.

Alan B'Stard got it about right.
"Before the NHS if you were poor and you got Ill you died.
Where's the problem with that."
Given the state of the country - wiping out the poor under-class maybe a good thing .

france and germany seem to be able to manage an industrial economy and still keep social policies that the UK can only dream off
(remember West Germany in the 90's assimililated a third world country i.e. East Germany and gave a 1.1 parity with the East German Mark - amazing)
we just about turned the Liverpool Docks around
but the crucial difference is the gap between the highest and lowest earners is much much closer in most European countries and recent research shows that equal societies do better on just about every social measure, from Infant mortality to crime to drugs.
