Very well played by Everton - no complaints here, but do agree that we looked all over the place.

Rooney has to stay fit for United to have any chance of winning things this season. first goal was a great move last night.

I have a perhaps irrational hatred of Park. A player who I do not rate at all.

I was hoping Rooney would get the Header Hat-trick. 23 goals in the Premier League. 10 games left and needing 9 goals to beat the Shearer/Ronaldo record of 31 goals in a 38 game season!

Im sure they said on Sky that Rooney got 100 goals for united in less games than Ronaldo. Got a way to go to overtake Bobby & Denis though

You're right - quicker than Ronny to 100, but some way to go to match the King - Denis stuck in 46 goals in one season Not even Ronny matched that.

Remembering that back then the English game was far less defensive with 4-2-4 formations common place. And goalies didn't have mod cons like gloves and soft ***** to par/punch/kick etc

That goal was sumptuous

He is in exhilarating form, the chest down turn and dipping volley was a great piece of skill.

I Always told you he was better than the Portuguese poofter

It also helps that hes enjoying some great service in from the right wing from Valencia and Neville. Must hand it to Valencia he has great eye for a cross and gets himself in some good positions. That first time deft volley for Rooneys first was described as "delicious" on sky highlights.

nothing coming from the left though with giggs injured. Really needs addressing that. Evra gets forward but his crossing is about the only weak part of his game

Simon, I am very happy with Valencia's first season, he has is a very chilled character especially with the ball at his feet, I would be interested to know how many assists he's had this season must be in the top 2 at United, he has been exceptional on many ocassions this season.

Evra seems to have gone off the boil the last few games. Good to have Vidic back though he looked class and back to his best, hopefully his head is straight now.

Not too sure about Cole, could do well at United, we need a long term replacement for Scholes, that has to be our priority.

I see Anderson is out for the season, ruptured his cruciate
I hope he makes a quick recovery and starts showing us what he can really do next year, I still have hope for him, I wont forget how he had Stevie G in his pocket in his first season at Utd as an 18year old, in both games.

Joint 1st with Giggsy at 9 assists this season (prem league only).

Agreed re: Scholes and preferably one that can also tackle even just 1 time out of 5

We just lack that creativity and ability to break fast through central midfield when ginger aint playing and he is one of the best at keeping the ball when options are limited. Im sure I saw an Opta stat 1-2 seasons back that stated his pass completion % was the highest in the Premiership. Maybe not now as old age creeping in and has been guilty of giving the ball away in silly areas several times already this season.

I dont know what Scholseys completion rate is now but at the end of November it was standing at 92.6% accurate, there was a piece in the times about it because he was way ahead of anyone else in the EPL. Lets not forget Zidane amongst others said Scholes was the best midfielder in the world

Sneijder would have been a nice option, I dont get to see much Spanish footy anymore but 2 years ago he was different grade for RM and the Dutch, one of the stand out players in Euro 2008 imo.

Should definatly have bought Sneijder, shame he went to Inter. Rumours of Defour being a target for United seem to have quietened down and he'd be a good addition to CM and i still hold out hope for Benzema and a rumoured £18m. I feel its time to cut his losses with Berba, regardless of how good a player he is he just can't do it at United and its so frustrating because he is a fantastic player but is so inconsistent and doesn't seem to play the United way. Also another left winger is needed and fergie missed an opportunity in Robben.

Anyway i'm sure Fergie knows what he's doing.

If Benzema comes in maybe Berba should move to central midfield, his passing is his main weapon afterall.

I'd say he didn't want Robben, injury prone and happy to sit it out counting his cash these days.

Great game, really entertaining from both sides.

May be the mickey mouse cup but it's nice to retain it

Rumour i've heard over the last few days FM is Villa for £45m, That's David not Aston Might be a bit much but he's 28 and world class IMO.

I'd agree Villa is World Class and I'd love to see him at OT but 45m for a 28/29 year old is not good business and I just cant see fergie paying that amount for someone of that age, he'd rather throw 25m at a 22 year old.

Another shocker by Vidic. Tbh he's never been the same since that 1-4 loss to Liverpool at OT where Torres ripped him apart. I dont even understand why he took Agbonlawhore down as he'd already overrun the ball and wasnt in control. Im not sure if that swayed the refs decision not to give him a red or it was just ineptness (probably the latter).

Anyway lucky for us he stayed on without even a yellow lol. Two shots off the woodwork inc yet another rooney header.

Carrick had one of his worst games for a long time too. Couldnt pass a ball or shoot for sh*t yesterday.

That'll ding dang do for me, Rooney what can you say, player of the year by an absolute distance, I expect a clean sweep for the lad

Played United

Nice equaliser Lyon, 2 goals in 10 minutes required for the Galacticos cant see them doing it.

Excellent display tonight.

Defence is looking good again too.

Shame Beckham didn't net that volley though, would have been strange listening to an away goal cheered.

Time for him to plant another story in the press about how he misses his "family" at United
