If anyone is looking I have a set of these which I bought as part of the group buy back in December. Someone can have them at the price as I bought them since they are unopened, good saving on what the new price is now.

Apex Coilovers 6/5kg for 05 Blob to 07 Hawkeye 114.3PCD plus Rear adjustable top mounts and extenders. £600

Hi Bren,

Thanks for that - may well take you up on the rear extenders offer - what's the delivery on those, or is it just a flat fee for any item?

Hello Bren,

I need some coilovers, but am unsure of "spring rates", I was thinking of the br series, my other mods include front 22mm arb, rear 24mm ard, alk, and drop links, what would you recommend?

And what will the ride be like?

Thanks

I'm running almost the exact same setup but with a 22mm rear ARB.
Prior to changing over, I was running WRX shocks with Prodrive lowering springs. I went for BR series with the 5/4 spring rate.

I've found that the ride is slightly harder (although this may also be partly due to the fact that I've dropped the car another 15mm or so lower front and back in comparison to my previous setup), but the damping is far superior, just adapting to bumps in the road and keeping grip with the tarmac rather than feeling like you're crashing and bouncing over them like the OEM shocks did.
I'm running my rear shocks 10 from softest, and the front about 14 from softest, and whilst I could potentially wind it in a bit more, I think it's not a bad compromise; the contact with the road when cornering is certainly far better and is a great compliment to the anti-lift kit and roll bars.
One of the guys I know who also runs these runs his at the softest setting all round!

Ok guys. We have some Apex kits in stock that we can offer at a similar deal to before.

At the moment we have the following in stock:

4x GC8 5/4kg.mm - can be altered to 6/5kg.mm on request.
6x GDB 2000-2007 (excluding 2005-2007 STi) 6/5kg.mm
1x GDB 2000-2007 (excluding 2005-2007 STi) 5/4kg.mm
8x GDF 2005-2007 STi 5x114.3 6/5kg.mm

I can do these on 20% discount from 2011 prices. Retail is now £699 so the kits will come in at just £559.20.

This deal is only for existing stock and once its gone its gone, I dont intend to run the offer again as all it does is steal sales away from BC Racing products.

We can spring swap 5/4kg.mm to make them 6/5kg.mm if necessary. The 4/3kg.mm run a longer damper with softer rates so they cant be altered but the 5/4 and 6/5 can be swapped.

Don't worry Bren i'm sure i'll get over it, the BC's are worth the asking price any day of the year.

Hope this offer helps someone else get a good deal while the stock is there.

Default Bugeye Wagon Set

Hi

I'm looking to buy a set of (whatever's on the go - I've lost track if we're on Apex or BC kits here) for my 2001 Bugeye wagon.

I'm thinking of lowering it about 25mm for now but I dont want to have the ride much firmer than it is at the moment. If the council ever sort the roads out around here and actually join the pot holes up with some tar, to make a "road", then I might want to tighten things up then.

Anyhow, can you let me know what's available please.

Many thanks,
Corrie

We are on the Apex branded kits now, £559.20, £10 carriage.

The 6/5kg.mm kits are designed to be usable on the road but still be capable on track. They will give a similar ride to the stock STi set up on the softer damping settings but you can firm them up if you want a sportier ride or if you are going out on track.

They will run near standard ride height down to stupidly low.

They are in stock, give us a ring on 01274 683633 to order

Default FAO Bren

Hi Bren,

Just a query really. I was looking through the Banzai magazine the other day and it appears BC are doing some different top mounts that look much more square than the generic ones supplied. They appear to have a set of countersunk holes for castor adjustment on the top plate and a slotted bearing plate below for camber adjustment. They also appear to give a greater variation in adjustment just using the standard strut tower location holes and orientation.

So the question is are these for availible for Subaru fitment and if so how much are they?

I cant seem to see any details of these on the BC website but there is some decent pictures of them in the Banzai mag.

If you're talking about the adjustable camber plates for the rear shocks mate, see my post and Bren's reply a few pages back.

FYI to anyone else considering a set of these, £24.50 plus either:
£2.00 + VAT for royal mail first class, or
£5.38 + VAT for next day delivery

Comes to £30.95 all in for next day.

Cheers Louisa - ordered

Hes actually talking about camber and castor adjustable front top mounts:

These are available for the Imprezas. £60 surcharge over the normal front top mounts or £179.50 as an outright purchase.

Fitting them isnt a massive job, and would be achievable by a DIY mechanic. Setting them up though would need to be done by proffessionals. I would charge around £100 to fit them and then a 4 wheel alignment would be around £50 from a place with a good setup to get things right. Specialists will charge more for the alignment but experience from working in places tells me you get the same job but the price is double. Just make sure the alignment is done correctly as there are a lot cowboys that dont always set it to the right settings.

Also My demo car is running the BR range coilovers and can definetly recommend them. Mine are around 7 months old i think and still no knocks or bangs and very crisp handling.
