The question now is what score do they need to get to and how many sessions do they need to leave themselves to bowl them out again? Strauss got it completely wrong in the Windies and never left enough time and can't afford to do that here.
I think the absolute latest we need to declare by is an hour after lunch tomorrow but I think realistically it needs to be at lunch so that gives us 3 and a bit sessions to get a lead of 600 runs and 5 sessions to bowl them out. That would be game on for me.

I agree with you on this, they should have declared about lunch/600-620 mark. The Aussies are no strangers to a run chase and if anyone can do it they can. Look at the amount of runs they scored in Cardiff
Remember the ODI game against SA? SA batted first and got the highest ever total in an ODI. Australia then came out and beat it
As it stands at the moment they have too much time to be able to amass an innings and potentially beat us.
Anyway, who am I to decide when to declare, I wouldn't have chosen to bat in the first place

As I said 600 needed to be the minimum for declaration on that pitch and by that point would have left them needing to hit 120 runs per session for 5 sessions straight which would have been very tough. The psychological barrier of 600 is also far greater than that of 522. May only be another 78 runs but plenty of teams hit 500 in an innings but 600 is no where near as frequent to achieve.

I still think 522 was too low to declare, look how close they got with so few of the top order scoring any runs
They are a dangerous team when they can bat well that low in the order. Were only 100 or so off with plenty of time to have got that.
