They must have put a pretty low G limit on it Nat. I very rarely pulled more that 1.5G on a display, and that included being inverted at the top of a wingover and very tight steep turns inside the airfield etc. It just was not necessary to pull large amounts of G, you don't need that to be able to get it to the extreme angles that it was capable of being flown to. The fatigue count on a display was very low in fact. The basic weight of 558 is also much lower having had all that kit removed.

Yep, the permit to fly has been issued.
She's leaving Waddington today at 17:00 and flying to Yeovilton for their airshow, ETA 18:00.
She'll be at RIAT as well now :lu xhello:

Can confirm she left Waddo in the last 15 min.
Was sat in the house when I heard some engines winding up followed by the classic Vulcan roar/howl.
Looked out the window and there she was climbing into the sky
After a single flypast she headed south

That formation has been scrubbed due to the low cloud. Vulcan due in at around 15.30 now....

It says in our local paper that her display at Yeovilton was cancelled because of a hydraulic fault! Many more failures will do the organisation very little good!

Came over the house here in Stroud about 3/4 of an hour ago, very low.

Was lucky to be in the garden at the time and how cool was that? My missus was very impressed but the dog wasn't

Cheers

Just got back from Fareford and the Vulcan was the star attraction at the show! I actually didn't know it was flying until I saw the line-up on the day, so was very pleased about it.

It did it's display at about 16:00, and it got everyone standing up to watch, and was certainly loud and impressive! They might be taking it easy on the high-G turns, but was still climbing very steeply and stuff. After finishing, and getting a huge round of applause from everyone, at least 1/2 the spectators left after it's display finished!

Great airshow!

The US display organisers used to reckon on virtually doubling their attendance figures if they had a Vulcan in their display programme.

I saw the Vulcan flying over the Teme Valley (Worcestershire) on Saturday lunchtime - I cannot find the superlative to describe seeing her in flight.

10 minutes later a DC3 did a low level fly past (1,000 feet).

STUNNING to see both these aircraft in soaring above the English countryside.

Thumbs up

XH558 did a couple of fly-overs past our works today at Filton airfield, Bristol.

Second approach was almost an actual 'touch and go' - got within a few feet of the runway at idle and then opened up all four Olympus engines and launched skywards. Great noise, and brought the A38 to a standstill

Apparently our Chief Test Pilot was at the helm.....he has a bitch of a job, what with flying the Vulcan, miscellaneous combat jets, latest Airbus stuff and the Rolls-Royce Spitfire!!

What a contrast over the two two days!
Sunburnt on Sat then got drowned on Sun.
The Vulcan did a display on both days and like Pete said, was probably the only reason why a big part of the crowd stayed around on a dreadful Sun afternoon.
Not sure what happened to the Arrows on Sun - they seemed to come back in after take-off?
The commentary for the Frecce Tricolori was highly animated LOL

The Frecce Tricolore have always been good-bit close to the edge at times and they did have a fatal crash some years ago.

I wonder if the chief test pilot at Filton is the same chap who used to visit us at Pershore in the RR Spitfire to practice his instrument flying in a Canberra before he did his rating. He was a mate of our Wingco Flying and I was promised a trip in the Spitfire the next time he came but unfortunately it never happened!

The Vulcan display on Sunday was better than it wason Saturday, seemed to use more power on Sunday and the wing over beyond 90' after take off drew a few gasps from the crowd

One of the reds had a radio problem on Sunday that's why there was a slight delay in their display.
