Default 95 wrx running like bag of nuts

My94 WRX ran perfect and had a nice smooth even idle running on 3 cylinders as one of the coil packs was shot. I had no idea it was shot until WOT on the freeway or under heavy accelaration I would get hesitation, bucking, jerking, and symptoms like fuel cut but not as violent. Every now and then it would be rough on cold starts too. I took out the offending coil pack and noticed the plug was soaked in fuel. Good sign its not firing. I had my friend turn the car over with the coil pack out and it definately was not sparking. I tested the new coil pack the same way and we had spark It is running perfect now. It is in an awkward spot and I sustained a few injuries myself with medium sized hands!!!! Good luck and hope you sort it soon.

I had a similar problem with my 96 SVX. It was caused by breakdown and clogging of catalytic converters. It also showed 02 sensor code.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm trying to sort a similar problem on my legacy.

b81ggy, did you ever resolve this issue and if so, how?

Also, if I want to check my coils are sparking, can I remove all 4 at once and crank over to check or should it be done one at a time?
