Yeah.. I would bloody hope so!!

Thanks!

Sadly, I don't know who you are, so I can't comment on your qualities. I bet you're great though.

If you spat your coffee out at that, you really need to get out more big guy!

Shaun

Looks like the intellectuals have arrived. We're probably out of our depth.

Cracks me up how your genuinely delighted thread gets turned into a political soap box by the type of character that isn't big enough to post "well done", yet is obviously watching the thread closely all the way through, and suddenly jumps in with snidey remarks at the earliest opportunity.

Even then when you try to keep in as good spirited banter, some clever cloggs comes along and starts just being vulgar and calling names! LOL

Back on topic Shaun.

Hats off on your achievement. Really well done on how far you've progressed this year in your driving. But most of all, well done for putting up with the **** taking for so long, and still having the ***** to be man enough to stand up and be counted, and actually enter.

When you've been slow, hats off for being man enough to admit it (rather than crying about it, and calling people cheats).

You car hasn't missed a beat all year. Its driven you to the shops and back, to work and back, to elvington and back, and gone F*CKING fast everyone now and then in-between.

Considering you're only slightly less of a complete know-nothing-numpty than I am, when it comes to building a car, I think you've done remarkably well. Probably through the help of the great guys you've got onboard.

There will always be people who talk a big game.. but walking the walk is a very different thing to talking the talk.

you tw*t!!

I must have more money than sense!! But in all honesty the whole thing has been worth it.... like running ScoobyNet, it is one of those experiences that few will ever have, but I have learnt so much. I don't normally give up and what ever I need to do to get something done, I will try my damndest to do it however hard it may seem. Life is full of stress and heartache and you are a long time dead..... but you have to rise above it and try and have a blast!

This whole thing has been more about just the car doing x,y,z... it has been about learning and experiencing, and above all else, enjoying it and having a laugh along the way. It's also better to say "I have tried and experienced ......" than, "I wish I could of been in a position to try ......."

Anyway... onwards and upwards. What's the next challenge..... oh yeah, my driving!

As much as I appreciate that it grates some people to know a pair of homo's like you and I succeed in things.... lifes a bitch! This is only the internet..... it aint real! Us tossers have to stick together.... we are a dying breed!

Banny,
Thanks and congrates on your recent engine results too!

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you come 2nd and Scoobyclinic win??? There was only 2 other tuners I know of and that was andyf and lateral??? They finished within tenths and on the 1/4 mile how close was it???

God you two are bitchy .

Shaun, I forgot to say, if you knew who I was why didn't you make any effort to speak???? I would of spoke but you put out all the wrong messages when I tried to speak!!!

Steve,
Sod it... he has probably gone to sleep now!

Simon was the winner of the main sprint event, but ScoobyClinic won the showdown. Hat's off to them, as they thoroughly deserved it! A reverse of what Simon did at Round 4, where Simon won the showdown iirc. The only thing the car did not do was come last.... even with me behind the wheel.

As Vin Diesel said "A win is a win..... especially in a shopping car!"

Why are you bleating on about the 1/4m.... I didn't realise that was somehow linked to the ScoobySprint Championship?!?!

Get ya car fixed and take part in the sprint!

Steve,
So I do know who you are then!!!!! There was me thinking, I was making a habit of speaking to some bearded bloke that I don't know!

I spoke to you twice mate.... once when I was trying to sort my wheels out, which I was running behind on, as they did not turn up till the last minute. So apologies if I did not speak much. The second time was near the start line when I was in the car. Again... apologies, as I was obviously in the zone.

Simon, remove one's head from one's rectum for a second. You're ok at dishing out the snide, sniping clever remarks but when it comes to being on the end of a few you call foul play.

That tells me all I need to know about you.

Back on topic I've already congratulated Shaun on his car (several times) and begrudgingly your success driving it. The car is indeed a phenominal achievement and is a testament to all those involved building and tuning it. It's a shame that a pompus pillock like you drives it so well.

lol @ Fai

I really don't think I need anymore power mate.... certainly not at the moment. If anything, Simon has highlighted to me that so much more time can be had with driving ability and that is what I need to concentrate on now. Let alone having the car corner weighted, suspension tuned for sprint discipline and proper tyres.

I know I have said this countless times on this thread, but we really were only in low boost mode Sunday. Simon was not interested in getting more power, or completely forgot he had the ability to "flip a switch". I had more things to worry about, other than more boost (like when to use my hands and feet lol), so it made perfect sense for me to keep it in low power mode as I am still learning. Couple that with the fact that we never took advantage of launch control (I have never got on with this in the past) or flat throttle shifting, which had only just been set-up on the Friday before I think highlights that in theory the car could be alot quicker..... without thinking about a bigger turbo.

Obviously I would be an idiot if I said "never"..... but I have so much still to get right, before that becomes an issue imo.

Apart from changes to the handling set-up of the car and testing, nothing else will be done over the Autumn/Winter period for the 2010 ScoobySprint Season. I was contemplating Time Attack again in my own car next year, but being a realist, my driving is no where near that level and the car would need to change direction.... not what I want. Well.... not at the moment.

I am just about to embark on another project, which I expect to take up most of my time between now and April 2010. So doubt I would have the time or energy for another car, other than what I have said directly above to mine.

What power are you going for and how long do you think before you will want more?

October 2009 - Prep for Snetterton
Now that the ScoobySprint season had finished, it was time for me to think about further use of the car over Autumn/Winter and how I could have some fun, whilst also getting more time in the car.

I had originally (a couple of months back) looked at competing in the Final of Time Attack (Club Challenge Class) at Snetterton and after the recent success in ScoobySprint, I was certainly more confident about the car than I had been all year. However, I knew that TA was TOTALLY different!

The trouble was the car was never properly set-up for sprinting, let alone circuit driving. My driving ability was also an issue. With this in mind I asked Simon if he would like to drive the car at the Time Attack Final, assuming we could get an entry. Simon said he would love to, but he would need to get some serious time in the car and also we would need to ensure the handling was set-up specifically for Snetterton. This would require some serious commitment, especially with only two weeks to go. So off I went and contacted TA to see if I could get an entry. In the meantime I found out we could get access to a test day at Snetterton, so all I needed to do was to book AST UK Support Team for the day. I spoke to Tracktive and they were all up for getting the car mapped for race fuel and also gave me the option of installing NOS. I obviously wanted the car to do as well as it could, so this was going to have to get serious. After 24hrs of my brain going mental I called Simon and we had a chat. I decided it was going to be too much, too late. I was getting stressed just thinking about it! Simon was not prepared to turn up for a laugh and waste peoples time not prepping the car, but then I was struggling to get further time off work to do the testing etc..... it was obviously not meant to be. With the caliber of cars in this years Club Challenge Class it would of been a tall order anyway, asking the "Shopping Car" to put in some good times, but with the correct set-up the car certainly had a chance of doing OK with someone that could really drive. To top this off I never even read the TA regs, so was not even sure if the car was TA "fit". Oh well.... it's the thought that counts and maybe next year!

I had already committed to an open pitlane day at Snetterton in October (which was only three days before TA, so too late to use for testing and set-up purposes really), so I just decided to keep this date and go and have some fun!

After the likes of Rich and Simon smashing my tyres up at this years ScoobySprint Championship I needed to get some new track tyres. The intention was to move up to at least 235's, as I had previously been using 225's on the Spec C and wanted to increase the rubber width as much as I could. Tracktive offered me a set of 888's at a crazy low price, but these were still 225's. For the price I could not turn them down, so decided that these would certainly be my last set at this tyre width. They were needed for the track day anyway (as I wanted some fresh rubber, incase I decided to drive back home on them), so all was good.

I shot off to Tracktive yesterday to pick up my track wheels and also decided to drop the oil in the engine.

The oil had been in for two rounds of ScoobySprint and covered approximately 1000 miles. I always prefer to change oil more often than not, so it just makes sense after completing two Sprint events.... even if they were short runs. I normally change at 2.5k mile intervals for road use.

The latest build has now done around 3.5k miles since May 2009.

After we changed the oil Richard gave the underneath a quick check over, and he noticed that the nuts on the new rear droplinks were not as tight as he would of expected. Perhaps it was down to Simon throwing it around the last Sprint on the handbrake! Richard went round a locktite'd them all up this time!

I was quite surprised when looking at the 888's that came off, at how much tread was left on them. Still enough for another Track Day.... so I stuck them to one side for testing in the future.

As you are all aware, as this car has full trim now it would be a bit of a pain to transport my track wheels round, when I do track days without the Tracktive Support Team bringing them along. With this in mind I needed to look at getting some Tyre Bags. I was very fortunate that Gus came to my rescue and supplied me with two sets. Very very nice of him and I have to say they do the job well, keeping my back seats nice and clean.

Thanks Gus!

So... that was it. I left Tracktive with the car ready and loaded up with my track wheels.

I hope the weather stays dry as this will be the first time my other half has ever been in a the car with me on track!! Which considering she has been with me through all the drama of this car over the past 4yrs, it is quite unbelievable that she has never been on track with me!

The idea is for us to have a bit of fun and for me to get some much needed time behind the wheel.

You do realise its all down to the turbo dont you? Joking aside its good to see its all come together nicely (Tracktive being a big part), well done to all involved

Im not far off the times myself with a 43.6 in the last round so next year should be fun once ive had a bit more practice on the track!! Just a shame it was my 6th run and not my 5th run because it would have put me 3rd

Give me a call when you have a minute shaun
