Julian Cook, from Hatfield, said: "I'm relieved to see that after all these years the Tories can still put on a show. It is nothing less than a masterclass in taking the absolute ****.

"You've got these petty, lower-middle class Labour MPs watching their wide-screen television sets and putting plastic covers on their three-piece suites, but it takes the solid brass nuts of an old Tory to claim for moat-widening."

He added: "If we are going to be governed by utter scum, it should at least be scum with a bit of style."

Lovely .

Being a life long Labour voter I have to begrudgingly accept that the Labour MP's have taken the 'snout in the trough' to levels not even plumbed by the Tories. The amounts claimed by our side in general have been way ahead of anything others can match ( nice to be first in something I suppose). Hazel Blears for example.

And I'm really annoyed that Gordon has lost out to Cameroon over the paying back of unsavoury claims. Lets get Gordie replaced as leader damn quickly. Or all is lost

You might have misunderstood what I said Pete. I was not accusing you of trolling, merely of the way you were trying to run the Conservatives down. I am sure you could do that better if you really tried!

The fact that these creepy thieves are rushing to pay back their stolen allowances just tells us all that they certainly knew that they were fully guilty both now and at the time they were doing it.

They should be sacked out of hand for dishonest behaviour!

Lets be honest - the only parties that remain with their integrity intact are now the BNP and UKIP

I suggest you do some research into UKIP MEP behaviour, also please don't even try to pretend that the BNP have integrity

I suggest you ignore the drivel written my MacShane and go straight to the Telegraph readers comments. You might learn something.

I think the public are just pissed off with all the "perks" the MP's are getting, and the arrogance, while the rest of the county are suffering, it's hardly leading by exaple is it?

That's cos you live in a state funded old folks home isn't it? LOL!

The only people from outside you get to see are undertakers and Father Christmas neither of which have jobs that are likely to be affected by the recession

Try telling that nonsense to the 280,000 people who lost their jobs in the first three months of 2009.

Hey nobody said they wouldn't prosper.

But if you can find anything in this article that says that Nick Griffins BNP are a party of integrity, then I'll be your bitch for the day

Sadly I know too many people affected by this recession (me included). They are really not difficult to find in the real world.

Well, all I can say is that in my business we are building new facilities faster than we have at anytime since the 1950's. We employ 9818 people currently and are desperate to hire more highly skilled professionals. The wages are reasonable and job security is as high as it can be in the current market.

My Voluntary work takes me into a College with 100 staff .... the Teachers are looking to a 2.3% Payrise on 1st September and a 6% Increment payment.

Like I said, despite living in the very real world, there seems to be more hot air about this recession than needed .... blown up out of proportion IMO.

Oh dear that did not go down to well.

Labour have only themselves to blame for the rise of the BNP party. 12 years of unchecked immigration has changed some communities forever

No way will bnp ever be more than a protest vote for anyone with a right mind ,not after the various outages we've all seen of their meetings on the box - and thats with the good ole BBC bias taken into account

"A former environment minister has admitted claiming £16,000 on expenses for a mortgage that did not exist.

Labour MP Elliot Morley claimed £800 per month for a property in S****horpe, Lincolnshire, when the mortgage had already been paid.

Mr Morley told the BBC he repaid the money upon realising he had mistakenly continued claiming for his mortgage payments after it was repaid"

He paid it back 2 weeks ago 'when he realised' .... yeah, when he realised it was in the Public Domain!

This is blatant fraud and he should be put in court!!

And remember, no matter what your opinion of them is, if they get enough votes they get into office. We are, supposedly, a democracy after all. Remember that Nu Labia are in power at the moment and they polled about 22% (or thereabouts) of the available electorate and noone mentions anything about them not having any sort of mandate. It's already happening in Austria (see Austria election delivers gains for far-Right - Telegraph ) and there is mention of similar things happening in other Euro countries. I thought it was a complete affront to democracy when the EU implemented sanctions against Austria a few years ago because they had a far right party in their government. I'm sorry - but if the people of a country vote democratically for a party then it's bog-all to do with anyone elese.

Let's see what happens in the elections coming up ....

Dave
Not sure what your point is here.

Mine was in response to UB who said the only parties of integrity left were UKIP and BPN I just pointed out the obvious, that you can hardly describe either with that word.

If the BNP get voted into power (which of course will never happen) then that would be the result of a democratic election, and a fair result....god help us!!

I don't think any sensible person would want the BNP (or UKIP for that matter) in power. I mean we all know what they are opposed to but outside that what are they going to do?
