Yeah, its an AppRadio 4 Pioneer sph-da120. Not a bad unit, but the screens are know to go on them after a couple of years.

Airbag recall today....along with secondary air pump relay and brake line recall

Mine was booked in, but then they found the intended replacement part was damaged, so waiting for another to come in.

 

Prior to purchasing my STI I contacted Subaru UK who advised me of the outstanding recall on the passenger airbag & replacement of the secondary air pump system relay, both of which I've had done.

 

For the hatch owners. What's the back seat room like compared to a 02 bug for example, are they better laid out inside and have more space for passengers?

secondary air pump is just a relay swap and brake pipes was just an inspection

All back now without issue no marks/damage to any trim that I can see and most importantly no rattles

Since owning my STI, apart from odd burst in sharp & supersharp mode, been going to & from work in intelligent mode, & I seem to achieve a higher mpg than my previous Impreza 2.0RX.

However, my mother resides in Anglesey, & I'm in the West Midlands. I usually get on M54 Then A5.

Which engine setting would give me the best mpg?

 

the engine modes will have little to do with fuel economy, all your changing is the throttle response. you can achieve the same mpg in any mode if you have a decent amount of control over your right foot.

Be interesting to see how it compares to my previous car. Must admit, cruise control didn't really bother me, but did use it a fair bit, so will most likely make use of it in this one also. 😁

 

I did a small experiment myself some time ago, as like you I was curious on the possible MPG's.

I cant recall the data exactly, but I managed a straightforward all motorway run with comfortable traffic at cruise control of 70 mph to a meeting in Leeds of around 65 miles at 38 mpg, and then on the way back from the meeting point I went a more urban route totting up a total of 100+ miles which brought the average down to around 34 mpg.

Now here is the Crux. If I did manage those sorts of numbers, then how come I was hitting reserve fuel at 260-280 miles from a full tank? Do the math and you would learn that the mpg reading is simply wrong.

Lets assume I can manage 340 miles from a full tank which I think is impossible, now that's from brimming the tank to literally running out (I know you wouldn't). So at 340 miles at 34 mpg (10 gallon). 10 Gallon x 4.546 litres per gallon= 45.46 litres.

45.46 litres - I thought the tank on a hatch was nearer 50 litres?

So lets do the actual maths~: 260 miles at 34 mpg = 7.64 gallon or 34 litres before the reserve comes on - I don't think this is right.

My car is not standard so maybe this throws something out as I don't know where the car calculates or calibrates the rule usage V miles.

 

The displayed mpg figures will definitely be way out after a remap +/- associated mods. There is a piece of software on Ecutek (though still in beta form I believe) where you can adjust things, so that your displayed mpg figures are a bit closer to the actual car mpg.

 

Fuel tank capacity is 60 Litres

 

Your mapper, if any good, would amend the MPG read out based on injector size via ECUtek.

60l tank / 12 gallon ish.

On motorway run on 120 miles each way, I get around 38 - 40 mpg if I don't boot it. Overall I can get around 320 - 340 miles of a full tank... dropping alarmingly as soon as throttle is used, stop / start on motorway, or in villages.

I believe the best way for maximum mileage is to drive yourself NOT use cruise control, as the control puts the brakes on going fownhill etc. and then throttle to go again on flat or uphill.

 

Agreed, I find cruise on any car more greedy.
I couldn't work out why my range was barely 250 miles till someone pointed out Spec cs have a 50l tank.

I don't understand how you can even get 250miles from a tank. My spec c hatch indicates 4.6km/l which I believe works out to be about 12mpg! I haven't seen 200miles from a tank yet and I'd consider myself to have a disciplined right foot 😣

All jap user reviews I've read have stated somewhere closer to 10km/l or 28mpg

 

My UK 330S hatch gets around 22-24 in town driving ( maybe 220 per tank ) around 26-28 with some dual carriageway driving included, and mid to high 30's for motorway mileage at normal speed limits and not in stop start traffic.

Interestingly, these 50 mph speed limits where they are building smart motorways really help my MPG !!!

 

think some of you are confusing your MPG with your BHP ,,, you should only really care about one when driving the scoob lol

 

Ribena, that was on a long run, normally around 5.6km/l. Don, I'll check, but I'm sure the jap manual says 50l as I thought that I checked it after being told. I can't see that diagram on my phone, but it looks like standard pump internals.?

 

Dom is right, we haven't bought these cars to be concerned about fuel economy, however it is interesting to read other peoples experiences. and statistics.

The best I have had out of my current hatch is around 260 ~ 280 miles (cant recall) to the tank (as soon as I hit reserve) which I am satisfied with to be honest.

Now Don has highlighted that the tank on the hatch is 60L, assuming I hit reserve with 10L remaining, the best I have had is around 25 mpg, which for the BHP Dom I am more than happy with. Shame I actually end up between 8 - 18 mpg LOL
