i used to use 'I' mode all the time. put it in 'Sport' I got better MPG... plus my wife said she found it drive easier and better.

then when you need power switch to S#..... which i only use for over taking or when needed.

'I' mode seemed to make the car labour too much on pick up. I use it wen its in snow though.

If you've had a few cases of an overboost scenario then 'd be inclned to get the compressions tested and a leak down test as overboost can lead to detonation and detonation does ruin these pistons.

how does the car idle ? Is it unstable slight jolt now and again ?

it idles fine but if you blip the throttle it has a slight jolt at around 1500 rpm on the way down the revs. It idles around 600 rpm and every now and again it seems to have a slight jolt every now and again.

It is now only boosting to .5 bar all the time almost as if it's only running actuator pressure.

also where would I get a leak down test done? Obviously a garage but can any do it or should I take It to subaru Newcastle?

A k+N panel filter, 2nd hand 2.5" decat and 2nd hand prodrive back box, got the filter for free, and paid about £300 for the full system so a bargain really.

Does look good and I must admit, I miss my 330S a bit.
But, how does the hatch STI survive in Saudi given the 2.5 history?

Koyo rad, 18-row oil cooler and 95 fuel map with 1.1 bar boost + methanol for S#/1.3bar trackday setup so far so good - 21kkm since engine rebuild with no noticeable oil consumption - I replaced OEM rods and pitstons with cosworth in advance :P The car performs fine under 40-45 oC. - if it is hotter than that, there is no point driving it because the OEM aircon is not efficient enough anyway (for those hot days I rent something with Gulf specs Aircon instead, like Kia Rio or Nissan Tida )

As I feared my car is goosed it had the dreaded ringland failure So engine getting forged.

I've decided not to take any risks so going with

Wossner pistons
Carrillo rods
ACL race bearings
14 head stud conversion
Pinned block
Bored and honed
Updated oil pump
New timing belt
2.0L oil pick up pipe

So should be solid as a rock after that. Then Andy F can map it to its full potential.
