the start of my DIY daytime running lights fit...

But for now here's the idea.







Just gotta neaten the cut out then secure the DTR in the gap, then re fit ll the trim around it.. then wire them up, I'll take a feed off the *** lighter, as that gives power as soon as the ignition goes on.

Fitting the spacers turns out to be not so much of an issue as I thought. The main problem is that the secondary airpump mounts to both the head and the manifold, lifting the manifold puts everything out of alignment so really you need to ditch the pump.

Just to quantify the above, that's only the info I was given by the fella that installed Immy's turbo.

Rob, care to chime in? Does that sound plausible? You've had more of these engines apart than I've had hot dinners!

Doesnt even sound remotly a problem as non of the secondary air pump system is mounted on the manifold, its mounted on the aircon bracket & the passenger cylinder head. the only parts related to the manifold are the wires for the solonoids & pump.

the transfer tube from the pump is bolted to the passenger rocker cover and then onto the cylinder head, The valves are bolted to the engine block and head and also tagged onto the water crossoverpipe.

so fitting spacers I wouldnt see a problem personally.

Just do them yourself its not that difficult, I'd say haynes spanner rating 3 Plus it would save you money doing it yourself and learn abit about the car too

Yeh suppose your right,but am not one to fooook about with cars would rather pay someone and get it done properly knowing me i'll **** it up. Tbh I do fancy having ago and am planning having my garage turned into a proper car bay with tools and a ramp. Got the idea from some "amazing garage" threads on piston heads etc.
It's also a matter of time to as on the weekdays am busy and the weekends I play footy Saturday and Sunday.

What Rob says is gospel as Rob works for a Subaru Main Dealer as a Techy day in day out I've lost count of the number of these cars I've had appart. so I'm affraid looking at this scenario the fella who fitted the turbo either forgot or couldnt be arsed to do it

Not as yet, Just upped the meths ratio somewhat to extract more power. turbo is pending once decided what route to go down now as what I had wont fit as it fouls the throttle body with the pipework and downt want to turn it round to suit

Is it ok to jack the hatch STi from the rear diff? I want to get it high enough for jack stands.

Or is there a better place to jack the rear from?

No not really, its just the plastic cover on the electric throttle body catches the pipe for the front mount, all thats needed is a turbo specific for avcs heads so it sits back a little

It's a well spec'd car!

I reckon quick private sale £17k given that theres only a months tax on the car and it's going to cost the new owner another £450 for 12 months.

you can price it at 18k, but with the current car market fuel prices and cost of living I'd price it to sell otherwise it will still be up for sale in a few months.

I'd try it at £17999 as its low mileage and good spec.
You can always take an offer (no-one pays asking) so dont start too low, and it only takes one person to really like it and its gone.
If someone is serious they will make an offer and not be put off by the asking price.

Assume you've been through all the ads on Pistoheads etc and see the range of prices asked.

It's pointless pricing a car higher than what you will accept. e.g a buyer may have a budget of 17k which means the car might not even come up in his search. if he see's the car and 17k is his top end of the budget he might stretch a little further and buy it.

ive seen a 08 plate in dealer £15500 had 50k on clock , brings tear to the eye what trade in price would b!!

in the end its down to how quick & how much u really want to get rid, but as immy says with price of fuel etc & cost of living i would price it to sell

Still reckon nobody pays asking price for cars, I've never bought a seconhand car or sold one at asking in 46 years. So a person with a budget of £17K would be looking at ones slightly more.

Thats only in my opinion.

Been on a month, got 2 people interested when it comes back from Enginetuner after the Subaru Garage took it for TWO "test" drives having failed to put enough oil in it (put 4 litres but with the oil cooler/pipes takes 5.5litres). They assure me that it is OK to "test" drive the car with no oil showing on the dipstick. I'm sure we are all relieved to hear that

Engine now finished with replacement Cossy bearings and should be back home later this week.
The new owner will benefit from a fully checked/refreshed engine and new clutch (old one developed a slight vibration)
