Default UPDATE

Picked alloy facelift bonnet up at weekend, was a bit hestitant to part with my £250 for it but boy is it worth it. what a weight saving!

Managed to get it flatted, and the boot flatted and preped over the weekend.

Got both in primer today just in time before the heavans opened.

Just a couple of pics of the new bonnet.

Default POSITIVE PROGRESS

Dash back from flocking company today, almost all back in but ran out of time, just steering cowl, centre console lid and glove box to go back in.

Boot lid flatted and polished today, stickerd up, spoilers on and fitted. Well impressed with how it looks.

Threw the bonnet (and all the front end on) today just to get a pic of what it would look like and some more inspiration to keep going!

Puchased a 08 plate STI engine today to strip down and rebuild before spet. Happy days!!!!

flocked dash

Front end thrown on for inspiration

Gaz,

They're 17" Prodrive P7's in anthracite. They're not heavy but then they're not the lightest available either. I have a set of Team Dynamics Pro Lightweights in 17" and matt black too...now they're light!!!

I really like the pro race 1.2's, cnt justify £800 quid tho, so will have to wait for the min. Ive been reading you spec on your car, fairly impressive. Im just building a 2.5 now to run with a MD321v so should be pushing over 500 hoss when done. gunna finish the paint job first and get her back on the road.

cheers for comments guys!
Pro race 1.2 wheels now in the shop ready to collect, couldn't resist!

Wiley; total cost from start to finish isn't all that much, it is the time thats most costly as you can't buy that! prob stands me at £300 for all the painting materials. bout 200-250 for new bits and bats i.e clips, bolts etc and whatever i get charged for the flatting. not cheap cheap, but not body shop prices. i could of used old clips etc but wanted it to look concourse so spared no expense there.

Default 2011 UPDATE

Another post brought back from the dead! Here is where im at chaps.
After my last lot of hard work with the stripping and respraying i took the car upto elvington for sso in september 2009. I did a 1/2 mile flyer run and kind of killed my old engine (standard uk 2000 that had been pushing 380 on an18g for over 2 years).
At the time my funds had been bled dry so, i put her away for a couple of months. Middle of 2010 i started to get my **** in gear and took the old lump out of the car. I 'accuired' and blown 2.5 and set to stripping to see what was what. I managed to salvage the block, crank and 3 rods.
Bought all the bits i nneded steady away over the next few months and had all the blocks bored etc. By xmas 2010 i had all the bits to start my build. Sent them all off in a box with my recon sti heads (from alyn at asp) to HDC subaru and collected a nice new shiney forged long motor in Jan 2011. I then set to bolting all the bits back on and painting stuff and altering things as you do. set myself a target completion date to be fully run in and mapped and that was the 21/5/2011 ready for sso. Few slight teething problems along the way but the story is i met the dead line and now shes back up and running in her former glory with a few other mods.
I added some abw arch flares and a custom air intake to allow my new engine to breathe. Here are a few pics o how she stands to date and a few snaps of my journey. Im sure most of you will agree she has changed a bit from the first pics in my thread

here is the link to my photobucket album to save me transfering them all accross.

As always comments very welcome guys, good or bad.........

the pics are in a bit of a random order so apologies in advance

What a fantastic project you have done over the last 2 years

Will give much inspiration to wagon and all classic owners as they approach 17 years old
Think my 11 year old wagon since new needs you at it for a couple of years spraying

Many owners will have to go through what you have done with the dreaded r#st starting to creep into the arches

I would love to see that in the arena at NBO 9 in a months time

Great job ,very brave and excellent value for money
