Self self self.

So you are in a hurry. Your car is in the bodyshop I hope they do a nice job.

A week may be plenty in your book but unfortunately you are the only one reading it. ffs
  1. Suppliers don't always follow up emails / calls etc with prices straight away hence a period of grace.
  2. Some people may not have seen this GB yet. Not everyone comes on here 24/7
  3. Most good GB's run for slightly longer than a week IMHO
  4. Doesn't matter if they are bonnet pins or brake kits or HIDs a GB needs time to gather it's members.

Seen as you are so selfless, I will stay as part of the group buy regardless of how long it takes but you can pay for them. How does that sound?

I agree with Banny. I seen this group buy but ended up buying on my own from AS Performance. I thought the point of a group buy was to get a group of people together and obtaina discount on parts etc for a volume purchase.

to take your points one at time.

1. If a supplier does not respond or is sporadic in contacting you then in my opinion they should not be trusted to supply a group buy, there are plenty of other companies out there looking for our business. You only have to look at the recent group buy on fire extinguishers to see why cheaper is not always better.

2. If some one doesnt come on here after 7 days could they be trusted to pay on time, holidays may obviously be an issue if people dont have internet access?

3. Most group buys do run for more than a week - valid point.

Just my opinion That said hats off to anyone who takes the time and effort to organise a group buy but there are some companies out there that can be relied upon time and time again to provide good prices and excellent service that in my opinion should always be the starting point

Said like a true Scotsman or should that just be "person of a northern persuasion".

Seeing as you are a taker not a giver.

You can do one.

How does that sound.

And in reply to Arch I shall answer your points one at time.

Which is what this GB is doing given time. You clearly have a link to ASP so that's an obvious route for you to try for a good price.

to take your points one at time.

1. If a supplier does not respond or is sporadic in contacting you then in my opinion they should not be trusted to supply a group buy, there are plenty of other companies out there looking for our business. You only have to look at the recent group buy on fire extinguishers to see why cheaper is not always better.

In the same light. "Fools rush in". Some companies need to be treated with kid gloves for a reason. You may see the irony of this later.

2. If some one doesnt come on here after 7 days could they be trusted to pay on time, holidays may obviously be an issue if people dont have internet access?

The frequency of a SNetters visits can surely not be a reason to exclude them from GBs. How many times do you see people post "I only just saw this." "Am I too late?" "Is this GB still on?" Going on recent posts I suppose the attitude on here would be "Tough luck you missed out. I'm alright Jack".

3. Most group buys do run for more than a week - valid point.

I thank you that at least I had one valid point. I would then ask why should this GB be berated for having the audacity to have been running for all of a week if it's normal for them to run much longer?

Just my opinion That said hats off to anyone who takes the time and effort to organise a group buy but there are some companies out there that can be relied upon time and time again to provide good prices and excellent service that in my opinion should always be the starting point

But surely not to the exclusion of any other supplier. Who is to know when a new kid on the block might just blow away the old establishment unless they are approached? The idea of a GB is to save money not just support regular friendly suppliers. Nor is a GB set up to break records for the quickest turnaround for the supply of parts.
You are right to say "Hats off to anyone who takes the time and effort to organise a group buy". It's a thankless task & I know from experience, having helped with the running of GBs in the past for Notec stuff, Ally pulleys & ZeroSport stuff. Especially when for all your efforts behind the scenes all you get is inane criticism & negativity.

Yes. And you are too late as it only ran for a month.

And no it is going somewhere steadily. As will be seen.

As your name is not down are you an interested party?

Mark
I wasnt having a pop and hope it didnt sound that way, if it did then I apologise. I was going to join the group buy but needed mine very very quickly thats why I didnt join.
The only reason I suggested AS performance was simply that I shopped around and know what other suppliers were selling them for and as such know I got mine at a good price, which I am confident Alyn would beat on a bulk purchase.
I do not work for or have any real connection with As Performance other than Alyn helping me from time to time with advice and some parts when I need them in a hurry for my sprint/hillclimb car. I pay the same prices for my parts as anyone else would. I just value his help and service.

On another note once the group buy concludes and everyone is about to cut up there pride and joy, if it helps I have tried to show as much info as possible on my project thread when I fitted mine.

Arch don't worry mate I didn't think you were having a pop.

The only reason I thought you had some sort of link with ASP was that you seem to have had good service from them in the past & wish others to benefit as per your signature :-

asperformance.com
asptrading.co.uk

I am now off to look at your project thread :-
