IIRC, they are quite reasonable, and I think there is one not too far from you.

Just a suggestion but what about e-bay. If you know what size jacket and trousers you need then you may be able to find something. As someone has already said a lot of people buy a suit, use it once then flog it. Good luck with the interview mate !!

I'll second that. I thought they were only in Manchester but it sounds like they are all over the place. You'll easily pick something up from there and they do an alteration service too !!

Dont get a 'trndy' 4 button jacket. They look bloody awful and employers will not like. You want a classic 2 or 3 buttom cut.

Try charity shops if you have some time on your hands, a bit of hunting and you will find something.

Otherwise asda is your friend no question. Suit £35, actually quite well cut. As your an odd shape I think they sell jackets/trousers individually so easier to get right size.

Good luck @ interview

Luck doesn't come into it imo, if I'm good enough, I'll show it on the day. I'll prepare properly and try do mock interviews beforehand.

As long as I look respectful when I walk in the door, thats what matters. Then it's upto me, not fate.

Anyways, away from the stars, thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna pop into Working Links this morning and find out whats what, then take it from there. I didn't realise so many shops did suits now, good job I asked.

Being a funny size means I need to try stuff on first, so Ebay isn't much good, to the guy that suggested it.

I would like a pin stripe number with 1 or 2 buttons. No skinny fit, no trendy salesman shine, just something simple and smart, bit like me

Have you any Outlet Shops or Shopping Villages in your area.
We have one, Dalton Park. My other half got a cracking suit from Next Outlet at about a third of the price. Plus you can mix and match.

Good luck with the job

Thumbs up

One thing said to me many years ago (people have said many things to me, some not nice!) was always make sure your shoes are clean and well polished/finished

No Trainers

Good luck with your interview

Shoes are good. Have 3 or 4 pairs which are rarely worn, so will choose whatever goes best.

Outlet places round here are scarce Les.

Really only options are Meadowhall (45 miles) or Doncaster (25 miles).

I don't really wanna go outside Scunny as it's petrol costs on top.

After being on both sides of the interview table I can hand on heart say that first impressions ARE the strongest.

You can see within seconds who's put the effort in - so a fresh suit, smart tie, clean shoes and a friendly smile go a LONG way.

Good Luck mate!

Well, got a kick in the bollocks today

The program I'm on with Working Links is a 26 week one. So if I receive funding from them, it has to be with regards work starting in this 26 week period. This 26 week period finishes on August 7th and I wouldn't start the apprenticeship until mid September So basically me being keen to get on the program early has buggered my chances of getting funding for my suit.

Only other option is to ask at the Jobcentre... which I did. Theres something called a "discretionary fund", a similar thing, just need to have an appointment with someone as and when I get the interview time/date. But apps. are a pain to get, and I could end up with one AFTER my interview.

Fingers crossed on that one, and I hope I get plenty of notice for my interview and a bit of luck - what I said earlier about luck, I take it back

I'm now going round the family with the begging plate to see if anyone will help me until I can get something from the Jobcentre.

Hope it works out as I was really disappionted earlier.

Andy, think positively, I know someone who got £300 from the discretionary fund to put towards their set-up costs when they started a new business. The way it seems to work is if they like you and think you're putting in the effort then they will help you

It's been said before but get yourself down to George at Asda:

ASDA direct | Wool Blend Herringbone Trousers | Trousers

Smart, wool blend herringbone pattern, £35 for jacket and trousers and you can buy them seperately to fit.

I was out of work for a while after I was made redundant in January so I really feel for you as I know how soul destroying it can be.

Good luck

I would appreciate if folk don't turn this into another "job" thread for which I seem to be famous for on here. Last thing I need is the usual ********* on my case... I'm after a suit, could have been for a wedding or a funeral, not a job. Just so happens it is for an interview.

I'll see what I can do with the Jobcentre, and/or family. Sure somebody will help me, I was just a bit pissed earlier as I've shown a lot of enthusiasm for this apprenticeship and the one bit of help I really needed was not there. So **** Working Links, I'll do this sh*t on my own and succeed on my own.

Thanks for the suggestions

No downer intended Andy, but when the *hit hits the fan you and Nat are on your own, be prepared for everything to go t*ts up at the start and then your hard fought (?) success is a bonus....

Now about those job interviews..... offer a firm handshake !

I'll sort something out

Got a £10 voucher for Tesco's from that online survey thing I do which pays for you opinions. That will get me a shirt and tie. See what can be done with the Jobcentre anywho.

Dunx - one step ahead, firm handshakes and warm welcomes are already being perfected.

I've had an email already. Corus want me to attend an interview next Friday at 13.30. So I'm gonna get on the phone to the Jobcentre and see if with email as proof they will help me.

I just got a 'orrible sick feeling inside

Just called Jobcentre and I've managed to get an app. next Wednesday morning. All I need is a copy of the email which Heta (on behalf of Corus) sent me confirming the date. Apparently they keep some free for emergencies and/or short notice. So as long as they say yes, I'll be able to get even just a cheap suit. Knew it would pay to keep prying at them

I would vote for M&S, got a free shirt of my choice with it as well, and a nice woman there made sure i got the right fit, and i'm 99% sure it was under £100
