We've probably all made some concessions when younger, but I think it becomes much less appealing as you age: there does have to come a point when you have to say: there is more to life than a car!

The nice thing about scoobies though is that they can be a "have your cake and eat it" kinda car. They do everything pretty well as std and you don't have to spend a fortune on them to have a nice and perfectly capable set of wheels......now if only I could get that point through my thick skull!!!!

New 1's are well specc'd, infact I've only chosen 2 things of the accessory list and 1 of them should be standard (mats and a boot liner).

I went "up" the car ladder, got to an R32 (so not very far) had it constantly vandalised (failed attempts to get the alloys), worried myself sick about it, had to hide the car at a mates house a mile away, then suddenly thought - "what is the point?"

So bought an Astra (!) which simply works and does everything okay and cars dropped off the priority list. Will always like decent motors but I don't lust after anything any more. And with the silliness of car finance over the years, I no longer look at something flashy and think "he/she is doing very well" - I often think "that muppet has got that on the never never."

I did rather like the new black M3 coupe I saw today though - lovely looking car!

Nahh i would not sacrifice much to be honest, life is for living, not for parking an expensive ornament outside and making yourself look better off.

hence the reason for me to get rid of the scooby while we are in this recession!

now that i am used to not having insane power under my right foot, i can see it was completely the right choice to make, and getting 300 miles to a tank of juice around the doors is a revelation to me after 6 years at 200 miles per tank pmsl

Nope nothing would be sacrificed for an expensive car now, I sold my Scoob to put towards a decent deposit on my house, there is an infinite list of things now that I would rather spend my money on, making my families life nicer and more secure for the future. A flash car really isn't anywhere on that list.
