Hi Frayz.

You stick with 18 - 20 K mate. The right person will know it's worth that. You say "it's just a Bugeye" ......... but is isn't "just a Bugeye" in this case.

All the best fella

(there are guys out there looking for cars like this, and will pay)

Cheers guys,

Clive, kinda fallen back inlove with it so gonna keep her for the time being. Its not advertised anyway. I guess if someone just knocked on the door with cash in hand, that would be the only way it would go lol.

Couple more bits to do and she's ready for some paint.
Mesh is just test fitted for now.

Don't like meshed scoops mate. I managed to find some stuff that's almost exactly the same as the oem grille.

May be about mate but one night next week is more likely.

Many thanks Craig. Very kind comments indeed. I'm afraid the old K&N bag hit the bin. Although I'm thinking I should have autographed it and put it on eBay. Haha.

I dare you, how childish is that, to go for a drive with the bonnet off.

As always, love the time and effort you're putting into it mate.

Thanks alot guys.

I've not taken any pics yet but I've put 6 rivnuts put into the skeleton so that I can make a shaped plate to shield the underside of the vent during the winter months. It will be spaced from the bonnet at a slight angle allowing heat to still escape but any rainwater that comes in will simply hit the plate and run away from the motor.

Also have big ideas for a GT3 style rear cage setup and full rose jointed rear end.

I love making this car better

Hi Frayz, I was always wanting to fit one of these to my Bug STi Prodrive but my fear was hot air coming out of the engine bay and straight back into the intercooler (I don't have a front mounted cooler, still the std one). Where did you get the surround if you don't mind?
Does the bonnet lose any rigidity with the cutout in the inner strengthening?

Hi Andy,

Firstly, I have a front mount so the heat transfer doesn't affect me if at all. However I'm unsure as to how much heat will come out of the vent and then be caught by the scoop. I guess I could always chuck a thermocouple in there and see what happens.
The vent surround is a genuine carbon Prodrive item for the works S7/8 cars. I searched for about 5 years to find one as they're no longer available from Prodrive. Various copies are out there that are not exactly the same dimensions as the original. However you can get a complete GRP bonnet with the vent in. Quality will be not up to my standard so I didn't go that route.

The bonnet does lose some rigidity yes. However, I have aerocatches for support and also have added rivnut inserts on the skeleton. These will be used so I can add a protective shield underneath to stop alot of rainwater hitting the motor. This shield will tie back in through all the ribs that I cut so will add back in a good 90% of the original rigidity.

I also added sealant between the skeleton and outerskin at the areas I cut to add more rigidity again.
The way I've done it has compromised the bonnet the least amount and it's still a very nice working piece in OEM quality and fitment.

Nice this is how I like to do things make oem better if possible. Also making changes to your car that work with your modifications. The cut ends on your skeleton did you not weld ends on them?

In the latest track and car they talk about roof scoops also and how much drag they cause so I'm going to look at another method for my next project.

Guys,

In the bomber I have a full touch screen Kenwood DDX6029 touch screen, cd radio DVD player.
I also have the original box, manual and remote.
On top I have the additional iPod lead and Bluetooth kit.

I want to swap back to single din.

As you can imagine, it's not done much work in my car as I never listen to it lol.

Looking for £250 for the lot complete.

Here's a quick snap of it in my car.

It is autoclaved prepreg.
And that will never be made again because he stopped and retired.

Bonnet requires polishing, final fitting and a number plate but I think she looks pretty hardcore now.
