T26 WRC - Frayz Engineering WRC S8 TARMAC SPECIAL - aka THE BOMBER
F4WRC is running a twisted 35R on a 2.33 IIRC 701 bhp !!! I forget the fellas name but he rolls his arches with a hammer and drives like a mentalist using slicks at a very wet brands
You might know him already as he builds engines from what I gather

Shims have gone for machining to the required sizes, should get them back in a couple of days.
Also dropped off all my engine based components for powdercoating. These will be a week or two.
Ended up going for Matte black on the cam covers, I was all up for gloss but fell in love with the motorsport looks of the matte when I see it. Lol.
All pressed steel brackets, water hoses, breather hoses and X-over pipe are going to be gloss piano black. The stainless APS overflow tank is also going matte black. While all of the solid aluminium brackets for the alternator etc are being done in a plain bright silver.
I also stripped the alternator and PAS pump to have their housings coated to match.
These parts should be done within 10 days or so. Still waiting for my baffeled sump to be finished along with the pickup pipe. These should be done soon too.
Neil @ T-logic is alos back from holiday and hopes to have my rotated kit complete by next week too.
All I need to do now is sort what I'm going to do about the intake manifold as it seems you can only get the textured red if you buy 20kg of powder.
I've approached a Ferrari engine builder to see if he can help me get my manifold done with his ones.
So progress is steady. Now we wait

Got in touch with a few of the Ferrari boys regarding the textured red of our STI manifolds.
Basically the reason we cant get it in powdercoat is that it has now been banned within the EU due to too high iron content (apparantly?)
It is available in the US and Japan but i cant find anyone that will ship it to me just yet. The Ferrari place purchased 40kg of the powder from Brussells to refurb their own projects and offered to do my manifold for between £400-£600!!
Needless to say im exploring other avenues. Hahaha

Frayz,
Another question about the removal of the modine cooler that you removed. What are you doing with the pipes that went to and from it? And also, I take it the sandwich plate was a straight fit up there without having to worry about anything additional?

Friday the buckets came back from the machine shop so i set about doing my clearances. 2 of them however will need to be remachined as theyre still a little tight. These will go back tomorrow and hopefully should come back by the weekend.
Heres my progress.

While i knew i couldnt do anything on the motor i decided to finish off my aerocatches.

Its getting there Neil, few little hold ups but nothing major.
Will be nice to geth the baffled sump back and the bottom end sealed up.
Really looking forward to seeing the new powdercoated items too

Cheers Olly,
Had a call from Neil @ T-logic today to say my rotated setup is complete and ready to collect. To say I'm excited is an understatement. Woo hoo!

Got sent a few teaser pics from Neil @ T-Logic of the rotated kit mid build.
Uppipe is Inconell and modified from my GT spec one. The rest of the kit is in stainless. Hopefully i'll collect this tomorrow night and post some better pics.
Im sure you'll agree it looks rather nice. Im getting quite excited now

Frayz,
It appears you are using the later valve clearances which are rather larger than those specified for the 2.0 engine. It looks like this is a measure to ensure they don't close up as the valves and seats wear. I wouldn't have gone quite so big on the exhaust at 14thou, and this also explains why the exhaust shims are so thin.
It should be fine though, I wouldn't like to think that I had set you off on some tangent and delayed you another month!

My mind doesnt work in thou, im a victim of new school measuing. The intakes were set to .18-.22mm and the exhaust .33-.37mm
I did try and keep them quite low in their spec window.
I did check around for the valve clearances on my motor and thats all i could find. What would you suggest i drop them down to then?
Dont worry i probably wont lose another month.... year maybe?

Just leave them. Initial tech manual was same for inlets I think but 0.20-0.25 for exhausts, it worked out at 7thou inlet and 9thou exhaust. However I've seen a number of v7-8 stis with burnt valves and/or seats where they have lost valve clearance then started to go once not properly sealed. SO my guess is that subaru have increased the exhausts loads to stop this getting terminal.
