Dead easy to do mate. It does mean making some brackets for the sides but its only basically continuing the lower OEM lip around the sides. The rubber trim would then be fixed to these with panel fixings.

Ive just had another look at it and it is growing on me. I think if its done properly it would be pretty cool.

Would be even nicer if i can find a strip of carbon to use instead of the rubber.

Rubber idea is better mate, like you said in an earlier message rubber would be good as it won't damage.

Yeah agreed, lets see what happens.

I might make some brackets later and get some fixings. Just hope it would put up with high speed.

Hmmm......Looks good from the front, but not sure from the side. It looks very low but looks a bit dis-jointed with the height of the side skirts in the pics.

Need to see it in the flesh me thinks

This was my concern too Fozz. Although if i have the bib any shorter it looks odd.
Looking at the WRC cars, their bibs are lower than their skirts too.

maybe if you could reinforce the sides to hold the shape of the bumper a little more it would help...i don't know if its an optical illusion or just the picture but it looks as though its a bit wobbly

Hey frayz,
as you were asking thought I'd give you my opinion and that is that I think it makes the car look front heavy.

Granted it's not a direct fit for you without some form of modding but I think something like this would look better

Ive looked at the APR item perviously mate. I dont like it as i dont think it suits the lines of the car. It also looks too JDM street racer for me.

Cheers anyway

Heres one ive mocked up with a 2.5" cut. Its slightly shallower than the 3" one before.

What do you think?

Please bare in mind if i do fit this it will be rigid and straight its only on with gaffer tape at the mo. Its just a mock up as before

Frayz,

A friend of mine has done what your looking to do to his 01 bugeye JDM wagon.

He made up bracket etc and bought the rubber strip from a jap site for about £60.

I'll PM you the pics if you want, it does look very good indeed.

Yeah cool bud. Im just toying with it at the moment. If i can make it right so it looks as close to OEM as poss id be happy. If i cant get it right, i'll leave it as is.

Ive made some brackets, they need finishing to the curvature of the bumper sides. With the shorter length of rubber, its doesnt flap about at all, its quite firm

Nothing much to shout about but my Tial 50mm race BOV turned up today. Its a V-band design that has a separate weld on flange it fixes to. The flange is coming separate as i need a stainless on for my pipework. Once thats here i'll get this fitted.

Slightly overkill but this thing is massive. Should have no trouble at all dumping the air out of the system in double quick time.
No really a fan of BOVs but the car has a slight jerk to it on the gear changes at lower RPM with the new cooler. Hopefully once im running a blow through MAF on the new engine along with the Tial it should be sweet.

Just look at the build quality!!

The front one is still in the making. I had a fabric one made for the front but am still in the process of fabricating a solid fixing for it. Unfortunately i will have to cut a little window in the bumper or fog cover for the strap to protrude from as the stock fixing can no longer be used due to the size of the intercooler core.
