don't see a point for that cage, You are not rally driver, car is to heavy to compete with anything new on tracks or rally, hill climb etc.(where You could compete with one set volks alloys ) as road car You will get more rattle in the cab

Another well informed post.

How heavy is my car?
How do you know I'm not a rally driver?
What parts of the welded tube will rattle?
Who mentioned one set of wheels for competition?

Mate don't even waste your breath. I suggest he goes back to # 1 of the original thread and get educated on the craftsmanship and effort on the bomber.

I have a full rollcage in my 1966 VW beetle. It serves no purpose as I won't be using it to compete as it's the slowest car known to man, it makes the car heavier, more difficult to get in and out of and far less practical. I love it to bits!

You gotta love a good cage and Frayz is getting a top cage built!

Frayz...You're gonna need more power now as fukcwit Fawor says it's too slow an heavy to keep up with anything on track even with 500+ bhp...you're probablly best going for a WRX like his mate, even though it will still be heavier than yours

Thanks a lot Joe, glad you like it. It's been a long time dream of mine to do it properly. Well as proper as my budget will allow. All I can say is, it's going to get even better as the updates come in.

Special polymer seat Andy. All the WRC teams are using them for 2015.

Cheers dude, I absolutely can't wait to see it go into paint.

All sorts of odds and sods jobs being done still. Screen gusset is in progress, I think Daves still playing with the design of this.

Also painstakingly spot welded in heaps of tiny little 20mm straps for all the wiring, brake lines and fuel lines. Little details like these take ages.

Cool question for you... When you open the door and see the plastic kick plates, when you then remove them and reveal the holes in the sill is that inner section a sealed section? I'm thinking wax oil spray and outer sill? Do those holes give you access to the inner sections of the outer sill that your side skirt then covers over.

Si,

Those holes will be blanked off and painted smooth. However there are access holes into the sills from the underside. I've already asked Dave about it. I'll need to seal inside the sills due to the sill tubes going in. Also under the car where the new diff cradle meets the cage will have to be sealed.

It will all be painted where it's been welded anyway.
