Headunit is being ditched altogether as I never use it. Toucan will go in the centre.

Fitted new sensors for the Toucan and run the cables into the cabin. However I need to wire them into the Syvecs.
In that note, I fancy changing the dash around again this winter. So decided I may aswell just take it out as it easier to get to everything and make everything neater.
Going to have a serious cable cul before it goes back in. I hate that it's all so damn messy behind there.

Made up a little sub loom to run the Toucan from using an ISO connector. It has everything you need, 12v live, Ign live, ground and illumination.
Put it on Deans plugs as it's always nice and easy to unplug if I need to. Not wired in my sensors yet, but all cables have been run. Great to get the Toucan powered up though, it's such a smart little unit. I don't know why I've left it this long to get one.

I think I'm gonna have to order one of these tomorrow. Are you still keeping your rotary CAL switch? I'm assuming they can work in tandem?

Toucan is for Syvecs, Alcatek, Motec, Link etc.
doesn't work with OEMs as yet as far as I know.

Knocked up a quick bracket, going to trial it here.
I may even make a small hood for it.

That looks possible but it's only a 60mm guage at best - it's a personal preference thing ultimately

In practice when sat in the car I can have the Toucan display a tacho if I want. However I can see from 3-7k rpm on the original tacho no problem.
So don't see it as an issue. If I decide I don't like it, I can always move it. That's the beauty of it.
It's not finished yet anyway.

Work in progress, and I know this will split opinion.
Will be sanded smooth and flocked inside and out to blend in with the rest. Taking a gamble but I think this is gonna look pretty cool.

I've made a speed camera

Doesn't this choice of location go against the ethos of making it look "OEM"?

It does a little. But if I can make it look like a properly finished part then it should carry it off. If it doesn't then I'll try something else.

Frayz how about getting another cowling and actually cutting a slot into it to see how much you can sit the display down into the recess... If you could drop in 10mm it would make quite a difference in seeing the rev counter etc
