Can I suggest that we meet in the McDonalds just off the A465 that way I can have a quick 'snack' first as I would imagine we should be leaving around 9.00-9.30am.

There's a McD on the A470 in Merthyr. It's in the retail park

Are we heading for the Neath/Skewen end of the 465 McD's or the Glyneath roundabout McD's ?

Don't take to heart Ty - you can always get a goody bag from McD's for the trip, just don't get ketchup on the seats/carpet

Make sure at breakfast you leave enough room for your BBQ

As we are all spread out it makes sense to sort your own little convoys out depending on your starting point, we will have one from this end for the trip up via Abergavenny anyone is welcome to join in start and time is TBA

Please please remember everyone, around the venue we MUST treat the area with the utmost respect otherwise it will not be available for us to use in the future

You can expect to have this message repeated many time as we get closer to the date just so everyone has no excuse

Happy days

Just to ECHO what Kev has said, this should be a really good day out for everyone (Richy puts hands together and prays to god for sun)!

However, sadly as we have had trouble in the past can everyone please be on best behaviour and respect Elan Valley and the surrounding areas. One or two people can let us all down and prevent this event happening again, which I am sure none of us want.

I will have an A4 sized flyer ready by the end of this weekend that I would like everyone attending to print off and put in your car front window, as you enter Rhayader/Elan Valley. This is just so we know who is who on the day and we can count the cars entering the Elan Valley site.

I really don't want to put a downer on the day, but here are a few things you need to remember...

1. BBQ's are normally not allowed in or around Elan Valley, however (weather permitting) we have been given special permission to use BBQ's in the Claerwen Dam area! Please use BBQ's with care and take means to cool them once used!

2. Take all rubbish home with you! There is no refuse service at Elan Valley, so please bear this in mind! If you forget to bring a refuse sack, please come and see me (yes I'm the tall, spikey haired one in the 22B) and you can have one of mine!

3. There is a national speed limit around Elan Valley, however due to the numbers expected on the day I suggest once you have passed the Elan Valley Visitor Center a maximum speed limit of 40 mph should be observed in order to safe guard ourselves and the other people using the roads.

4. If it is your first time to Elan Valley and wish to go off and have a look around I suggest you do so in convoys of no more than 5 cars! We have local meets here and trust me 10 cars is hard work to get around on a busy Elan Valley day!

Anyway, that is all I can think of for now! Please have a safe journey up and great day! I know myself and the rest of the MWS bunch will enjoy seeing you all roll into Elan Valley on the 9th!

What about then the convoy from the Llanelli and further West/Swansea/Neath and Port Talbot areas meeting at the Neath Abbey/A465 McD's for around 9.00am?

Then travelling up to Merthyr Tydfil to meet with the convoy from the Cardiff/Barry/Bridgend and Rhonnda areas at around 9.45am?

From there then we can take a leisurely drive up to the Elan Valley possibly via a few sites of special driving interest?

We can always rejig the time to allow for a quick trip over towards Epynt if that option is available.

Would I be to late to join this? I have only been to the Mcrae gathering and not attended any big meets but this sounds ideal. I am from the Rhondda area but originally from Mid wales so know the Elan Valley quite well.
