Are We Being Ripped Off Again?
When my Dad worked in petroleum in the 70's petrol was the 7th by-product of oil refining, and diesel was the 10th.
The fact that as more petrol owners switch over to diesel cars, petrol sales will inevitably drop, leaving more refining capacity to make diesel, which they need to make a little less of due to the vehicles higher economy means there is no shortfall in refining. Other countries manage it, and we used to charge around 10p/l less for diesel. As diesel has become more popular and the individual is able to save a few quid, the greedy pillocks in both government and oil companies move the goal posts back in their favor. It would take some substantial evidence to the contrary to make me believe anything spouted from either of those camps. Politicians are liars by default, and so are billionaire industrialists, as and when it suits and/or is most profitable

As a nation we're foofed ! We demand high wages and a high standard of living, yet we manufacture very little for export whilst importing massive amounts of goods from other nations and sourcing manufacturing from cheaper emerging nations with cheap labour forces. With lots of money going out and not much coming in, how long can we keep going ? I think our time is up as the rich pickings of a global economy come to an end and we start to slide down the pecking order into debt and bankruptcy.
). Clarkson showed when trailing a Prious in a V8 M3 that it isn't necessarily what you drive, it's how you drive it. On an 1800 mile jaunt in Cornwall last year almost entirely on b-roads, and not hanging about, I averaged 57mph and 56mpg out of the same car through intelligent use of power and gears, and good planning and anticipation. It takes effort, which is why most can't do it, but it isn't hard to get economy figures in excess of manufacturers claims. If you take the 56mpg as an average then I get almost 740 miles to a 60 litre fill-up, meaning I may pay £6 or so more for my tank-full, but a similar sized petrol car returning 35mpg maybe will only get around 460 miles to their tank, 280 less, making them have to spend another £32 to get near my range. The £6 extra I pay is nowhere near.
Earlier I watched CNN and they had their Housing Secretary on. In a 5-10 minute interview. he did not dodge one question. He answered them all. He had quantifiable reasons behind everything he said (was about preventing forclosures for people that had been responsible with getting a mortgage)
Compare to Flash's comments that he said in Berlin today
There is a need for a global new deal so that the world economy can recover"
"soundest principles".

Idiots!
Their purpose has been to destroy the British economy, not so long ago the 4th most dynamic economy in the world, in order to allow this so-called Government to nationalise the financial sector and create so many problems for the tax-payers and voters that we shall be too pre-occupied to notice when they shut the gates of the New Soviet Union of Europe goulag behind us.
It is not a new plan. You can trace it's origins back to the Communist "intellectuals" like Sydney and Beatrice Webb, Antonio Gramsci, Georg Lukacs, Herbert Marcuse and others, who realised in the early nineteen twenties that the revolution in Russia was not provoking the spontaneous outbreak of similar revolutions in Western European countries, and that the establishment of a Communist Europe - and eventually a Communist world - would require the painstaking application of a detailed plan and programme. Gramsci called it "a long march through Western culture" and called for the systematic destruction of all the key elements of Western civilisation and notably: democracy, christianity, the sense of national identity and pride, and family life.
Sounds familiar? Well, unless we get off our backsides and take our country back, within a few months the members of the Fabian Society, Chatham House and Common Purpose will be toasting each other on the successful achievement of their ghastly objective. And I wonder how many months it will be after that, that the cattle trains will start rolling across the European plains once again?
Haven’t we been shafted by the blind believe in the efficacy of the free market in the finance a banking sectors
and in truth only profits are privatised, losses are nationalised

Brown and his traitorous companions know exactly what they are doing, and have known ever since well before 1997.
