My mother in law had to be given them when she had advanced dementia. They used to slow her down a bit and make her more managable and they never seemd to do her any harm.

Apart from the unfortunate and sad aspect of the Dementia, that sounds like a great plan for many mother in laws, slow them, down chill them out.

When I did a disc in over the new year, trapping a nerve, I was prescribed Tramadol, Diazepam, Ibuprofen, some other stuff for muscle relaxant, (but it made me vomit), and I was also taking Co-Proxamol.

Nothing REALLY stopped the pain, but I had one or two hallucinations and the weirdest dreams.

2 mg does the trick when you you take 15 of them. slept like a log. GP wont give me sleeping pills. As for tramadol hydrochloride, don't go there. took them for pain relief after breaking my leg in june 2000. i was still on them 5 years later. needed them just to function. horrible, horrible time coming of them. opiate addiction is not nice.
