FMIC Installation GUIDE
This document defines the installation instructions necessary to be carried out in order to successfully install this Front Mounted Intercooler.

Important !!
To mount correctly the kit, you need:
- 1 T Piece ½” connection
- 1 piece ½” connection => Replace vacuum hose
- vacuum line ½” by 660mm long
- hose reducer 2,75” to 2,5”=> Body throttle to piping
- silicone hose elbow inside diameter 2” to 2,5”=> Turbo to piping
- 310 mm long edge strip
- Smallest overflow bottle (brake fluid bottle is perfect)

Remove Factory Top Mount Intercooler

- Disconnect the cam cover breather hoses from intercooler.
- Disconnect the vacuum/pressure supply hose from the top of the by pass valve.
- Remove the by pass valve from the intercooler (2 bolts).
- Remove the bolts that secure the intercooler (LH and RH sides).
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps that secure the intercooler duct (turbo and throttle body).
- Remove factory top mount intercooler and clamp and hose fitted into throttle body.
- Remove the factory by pass valve from intake return hose.
- Remove the LH and RH side intercooler mounting brackets.
- Take the replacement throttle body hose (hose with reducer 2,75” to 2,5”) and secure it with a supplied larger hose clamp.
- Take the replacement elbow hose (silicone hose elbow inside diameter 2” to 2,5”), secure it to the turbo with the smallest hose clamp
- Remove the factory intercooler air splitter (underside of the hood)

Install vacuum hose extension

- Remove the factory vacuum hose (hard duct removed from intercooler in first step).
- Place the ½” T-piece nipple on RH side.
- Place ½” hose from T-piece to LH side rocker vacuum port from where the factory hose was removed.

Install fuel line extension

- The fuel filter (LH side) need to be lowered in order to provide enough room for the intercooler piping.
- Unclip fuel filter
- Remove 2 bolts used to secure the mounting bracket.
- Re-secure the bracket with only one bolt (place upper hole face to lower threaded hole).
- Replace the upper fuel line with a longer one in order to provide enough room for piping (utilise the factory hose clamps).

Remove factory air box

The FMIC need an air intake.

- Disconnect connector from the mass air flow sensor.
- Remove air box (4 bolts).

Remove the intake resonator chamber
- Raise the front of the car.
- Remove the front under cover.
- Remove clips that secure the inner mudguard on the LH and RH sides of the car (not all, just enough to access).
- In the RH side wheel well, remove the intake resonator chamber (2 bolts).
- Take 310 mm long edge strip and fit along to edge of the round hole.

Remove and replace radiator overflow bottle
- Remove the 2 clips that secure the factory radiator overflow bottle and remove the bottle.
- Cut off the lower mounting support
- Install new overflow bottle

Remove front bumper and bumper beam
- Remove front grille
- Remove the clips that secure the front bumper (several along the top, 3 on the bottom, 2 at either end sides).
- Remove front bumper.
- Remove the 4 nuts and bolts that secure the font bumper support beam.
- Remove the front bumper support beam from the car.
- Cut off the small metal tab located at the front of the chassis rail.

Installation of the front mount intercooler
- Remove the 2 bolts that secure the front chassis rail.

- Take the replacement front bumper beam and locate it with 4 nuts, do not tighten these nuts.

- Take a metal rubber and locate the top of the replacement bumper beam 137mm +/- 1mm from the top of the upper front bumper supporting mount.
- Tighten all 4 nuts to secure it.

- Raise FMIC into place, secure it with the 2 under bolts.

- There may be a gap between FMIC and front bumper beam, minimize it with washers.
- Then using 2 bolts retained from step “remove factory intercooler” and bracket, secure FMIC.
Installation of intercooler piping
From turbo to throttle body follow, the photos (more explicit than a long text):

Always place silicone hose and appropriate hose clamps prior to installation.

Install appropriate by pass valve.

Cutting off the front bumper

For this process an air hacksaw is recommended (perfect cut).

Cut as shown on the photos:

Take your time as it is a one way path.
If you are not sure, a professional intervention could be a good support for this procedure.

Installation of the front bumper

- Fit the front bumper.
- Visually inspect that the front core is centred within the front bumper.
- Re-install tops clips (may need drilled of new support holes into the plastic bumper because of difference between some Subaru model).
- For the 2 clips either side of the bumper, replace it with M8x16mm bolts with locknuts, and re-secure the side of the bumper.
- Some cut on each of the LH and RH side inner mudguard must be applied to adjust the mount.
- Secure the modified inner mudguard into their original position.
- Re-fit the front under cover and grille.

Install a short air intake (replace mass air flow sensor and connector).

Final inspection

- Ensure all step have been carried out.
- Turn the car ignition to the “ON” position but do not start the car.
- Inspect fuel line.
- If there are no fuel leaks, start the car (If CEL, inspect mass air flow sensor).
- If there is no CEL the installation is complete.

****** THIS IS A GUIDE ONLY - INSTRUCTIONS COULD BE INCOMPLETE AND
/ OR MISSING INFORMATION – CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY INSTALLATION **********

This is what I got when I fitted mine

ah the kit I bought was second hand, only the intercooler and pipework was included, I have my own induction kit so that's no issue. but I have seen people keep the original tank but relocate?

Take a look at this photo, the fog light mounts on the bumper is completely cut off to fit the FMIC pipe.
No way you'll be able to reinstall the fog lights after this. Not OEM fog lights at least.
