it'll be checked out before hand - no worries

Got the old engine back at the workshop, and will strip it to see whats failed when I get some time.

It has 92.5mm RCM Omega forged pistons though.... so IF they are in good shape I might have a fairly decent spec 'spare' engine (paired with old BGV heads) to build as a bit of a learning experience

non picture update...

Engine is back in and run in. Mapped to rpm 7000rpm where a noise can be heard with det cans. No clue what it is but its getting looked in to.

Geometry - going for a startup set up of -ve 2deg camber front and rear for now with as much castor as possible (EXE TC top mounts)

Master kill switch getting wired in.

Wide arches bought, and 2 sets of 9" wide rims to use with 255 section R888s

Once thats all done it should be up to MSA regs and ready to race (just i'm not around to use it LOL )

Should be really grippy with improved suspension set-up and 255 tyres!

Hope the engine noise isn't anything serious. You going to be around to run it at Cadwell at the start of next month?

Cadwell is a no go I'm afraid

I'm in Shetland just now... living it up with the sheepies and Shetland ponies. Be here for a few weeks.

Fee's video from Knockhill last night

a pic showing its lovely gold wheels LOL mmm mmm (Simons old ones finally making it onto the car as a stop gap till the widearches are done)

Fee needed to fit a 5mm shim to clear the struts on the rears - high offset wheels, about 2deg camber.

The Advans dont clear the front brakes so they'll be up for sale soon.



also looks like a fair amount of weight transfer (to the rear under acel) going on in the pic... no idea what she had the susp set up as, or even if the ride heights are quite right LOL

marmite....

I'm not very sure on these arches.... hopefully once the 9" wheels are bolted on it wont look quite so 'wide arch saxo running on standard wheels'

The arches are pretty easy to fit, but I think I may have got front/rears mixed up - my usual bolt on now check later method :look: Will do some checking - worst case I'll have to drill and rivnut some new holes.

I still think they look cack and cant help thinking I've ruined the car for now. Second worst case if I'm not happy once I have wheels on and confirmed front/rear I'll bond a 22B kit on

Definate improvment with wider wheels mate, can i ask, what type of front splitter is that fella?, im looking for one for my build at the mo.

Its a 'TrackScotland' special

hehe... The white lip (JUN maybe) is from DRMotorsport ( http://drmotorsport.co.uk ) and the black undertray is just hardboard for now till i'm happy with everything (i.e no more trimming is needed etc)

Lol hardboard i like it, will you be fabbing something up to the shape of the hardboard then mate? if so what will you be using, its exactly what i want to make up but not sure what to use to be honest.

Refitted the Rain Light. Its from the inside now, so only sticks out about 10mm rather than being mounted on the boot face Looks alot better.

Fitted pass seat - just need to find the harnesses or buy new

Fitter new O/S headlight as old one was smashed from some stones on track.

I think ill go down the hdpe route mate, black 4mm thick 2000mm x 1000mm for £40.90 not a bad price .

I'm still convinced the arches are wrong (maybe left side on right) LOL

washed the car, fitted the XP10 pads and went on the look for some more castor


First up was flipping the mount for the alloy lower arms (to the ALK) 180deg. The mount is offset so this pushes out on th rear of the arm and forward a touch. Secondly I made sure the ALK's were mounted as far forward in there slots as possible.

Its visably added more castor, and given some toe in that will need sorted

longer wheel studs and some hubcentric spacers arrived I'm being optimistic and thinking I can space them out 16mm more 5mm shims allround in pics above, could have gone with an ET15 or 9.5" rim but wouldnt have got these wheels in those sizes

see what happens

If so how did you find it? I think I might need one soon and not sure where to start looking

i found mine by just driving around industrial estates and asking, plenty of places, another way is gumtree

we still have a couple of garages in the city which are a lot closer to home and handy for storing cars.

The 'shed' has space for 4 cars - power, water etc. Just would love it closer to home.

Know how you feel... i want mine closer to home but there is nothing around here... well apart from council garages but there isnt enough room to swing a cat in one of them

new spiltter fitted... a lot deeper, lighter and have put wee end plates on it



Swapped round 2 of the ABW arches as in my opinion they were on the wrong sides (i fitted them)

on a side note - Oil Temps

Was pretty happy with them. It was a reasonably dry morning but about 7-8deg. Car didnt reach 90deg on track, but only creeped up to about 92 when back in the pits after a hard session.
