Great pics Les I've fond memories of watching Vulcans take off and land at Waddington as I gazed out the window at school and got told off for it

Awesome sounding and looking machines.

Hope you dont mind Les,

Ive met Les in person, and i can vouch for his background.

I saw the piccys he posted some time ago, long before people on here

doubted his background.

He's as he posts on here, very genuine, and a great bloke to have a chat

with.

Ive seen some of the other flight pics he has, there even better than

the ones he's posted here.

I am surprised that you say our paths did not cross, I was there for eleven years and I am pretty certain that we had a few beers once in the Officers' Mess after a dining in night. I used to be in all the demo 4 plane scrambles and do all the air displays at Waddo for the RCDS and Open Days so you should certainly know my name. What a coincidence that we seem to have had a drink together! I have flown XM 652 a good few times too! It was one of the good handling Vulcans. They were all a bit different as you would know of course.

Lot of questions to answer.

No SS-The parson's nose is is still intact, got away with that one Have not got a pic of me on the bike but someone wanted to see it so here it is.

That was on a run my local bike club did round Dartmoor, some lovely old bikes there too. Mrs Leslie is alive and kicking-but she won't get on the back of the Bonneville. She is nobody's fool

You can ask how old I am of course Shaggy. What I will say is that I was one of the younger straight through Vulcan captains without a co-pilot's tour on the aircraft and I was with the aircraft until it went out of service as an operational aircraft-so you will have tp work it out from there

Thanks Nat-that Gnat sounds good, it really was a lovely aircraft to fly, by far one of the best jets for formation flying, and the rate of roll with the aileron stops out was electrifying to say the least.

Oldsplice, you wanted to see the cat-here is Freddie, daring anyone to move him off my Ham radio, he is a big blighter

Thanks to SSuP for the kind remarks, and to Mart 360 and everyone else for your support. Much appreciated since I did not want to drag you into all this.

Les

Les, 'you da man' as the younger generation would maybe say.

The Vulcan is my all time favourite aircraft, because of its role, shape and awesome noise. The crew also had to have whatsits the size of space hoppers to get in and fly one, especially those that sat in the back (only the front two had ejector seats...). I even have a piece of XH558 mounted and framed, from when it was refurbed

Anyone that flew the Avro Vulcan was a steely-eyed missile man!!
