i thought there's also a super car exemption, as the the p1 was too loud, but it was fast enough to be classed as a super car which has a higher limit
stevie
Yeah, the EU has 'supercar' ruling meaning that if a car is quick enough to qualify as a 'supercar' - which the P1 was - then it would be allowed an extra 1dB onto the noise stipulation. What that figure is, don't know.
Very strange, mine passed last week on a full 3' Milltek sport with sports cat system complete with decat up-pipe, failed the first emissions test mind but passed when warmed up.

snap, mine did last year. magnex cat back system ninja sports cat uprated upppe.
it failed first due to a lamba failing
i's think there just being bloody funny...
2 months ago mine passed and my exhaust sets car alarms of not just in enclosed car parks, but out and about in the streets in the open air! Don;t know what make it is, it's from America and already on the car when I bought it
had my rescheduled MOT today.....passed with just an advisory for front brake pads
no mention of reg plates, noise.....
any recommendations for pads?
Ferodo DS2500 are very good. Similar stopping power as carbon-metallics, but without the large brake dust residues over short periods of time (plus the metal content of carbon-metallics can seriously pit the alloys )

The 'Ferrari' get out requires a certain power to weight ratio to be exceeded and a certain exit speed from the test, it then allows the car to be tested in third gear only not second and third averaged (so the revs are lower as the test is at 50kph and then accelerating at wide open throttle), the noise limit is the same though - thats for EU type approval.
The MOT tester should fail any car which makes more noise than he would expect from a standard car.
Reg 54 of the construction and use regs make it any offence to modify a car such that its exhaust makes more noise than when the car was manufactured*
Simon
*This include 'remanufactured' cars to a seperate EU type approval like the PPP cars.
