Hi,
As far as I can see, right up to post 53 where you give out payment details after fulfilling your minimum order of ten, you have been the group buy instigator and controller and Harry007 has not even posted on here. Surely you accept you have a duty to see this through now? How doesn't anyone know for a fact your not both one and the same person for example? its a common scam on forums...

At post 107 you had taken the money from 13 people. Still no sign of Harry 007 until AFTER people get upset around post 112 when a member pops up and the problems begin. As far as the members are concerned fella, this is your group buy.

For reference, this is why i have left the OP's account showing as under investigation when some members may feel he is not to blame...

Scenario:
Member X organises a group buy
Member X describes what your buying
Member X lists all the people buying
Member X gives you an address to pay
Member X confirms you have paid the money
Member X tells you parts are on the way

I am sure most would agree that member X has willingly been involved in this group buy and been instrumental in the exchange of monies. Innocently or otherwise.

Should we decide that teh OP is never to blame when things go wrong, then what would be to stop member-X from starting a group buy, taking a couple of £K and then just registering a new username and saying "Hi, its all my fault, please don't blame member-X" And then member-X pocketing the money saying "Sorry fellas"?

As for banning him, I guess you all have some other way of contacting him do you so your all happy for me to shut this avenue down right now?

I am impartial, thats why you are both left under investigation until this is cleared up. I am not suggesting or implying anything, merely stating why I am doing things the way I am so don't start feeling victimised, just accept that your GB has gone wrong and try to help those whom you have brought into contact with the seller. Without your input they wouldn't be in this mess, thats an indisputable fact.

Incidentally, the fact you have never been on the thread when Harry007 has replied is in fact a negative point if you think about it...

Aren't the two screws in the carbon mirror just to hold the glass?
Looks like theres no holes to mount the mirror.
File off the lump on the base plate, offer the mirror up, drill 3 pilot holes for the mounting screws, use 3 self tappers to secure it on, putting a larger washer under the screw where the filed lump was, also applying a little bead of silicone around the base of the mirror for water sealing, job done!

This thread should be made a sticky as how not to participate in a group buy.

If the OP had been up front in his first post and said "Harry007" was the supplier i'm sure most wouldn't have gone ahead with the buy.

No one seems to have got any verifyable contact details before handing over £100 (a total of over £1300).

The OP now has a damaged reputation and the buyers are all short of £100 and have no goods.

No one asked for any details whatsoever of the fit and finish of this product or even a picture of them fitted.

I really can't believe how easy it is to scam people on internet forums, i've taken part in group buys on here before but only where my money went to a genuine business (not an email address).

I'm not gloating, just trying to show that much care is needed before handing over your hard earned to people on the net - doubly so where paypal is concerned, they're only one step above Western Union for being a scammers delight.

No ones been scammed yet, one member has a refund, Harry's now asking who else wants one too. The whole thing is a bit unfortunate, xmas in the middle didn't help either.
Now, don't get me wrong, im **** off as much as anyone else, but all this shouting about scams, banning him etc is only going to delay matters, we don't want to annoy Harry to the point where he stops replying( all be it delayed).
M535I is doing his best it seems to show whats involved in fitting, with pics later today hopefully.
I have done a group buy myself in the past, no one knew me, but still trusted me with their money, and all got the goods as promosed.
It's hard to right off honest sn members, trying to offer like members a deal, such as M535I.
Yes, as the buy instigator, he has a certain responsability, which it seems he's doing his best.
Hind site is a wonderfull thing!

As you say hind sight is a wonderful thing, and it is really easy for everyone to throw stones, but the fact that M535i has actually tried to run a GB and offer people a good deal should also be remembered.

All too often you will go in the GB section and somebody who wants something will have posted up asking if anyone is going to run a GB for them. I've done it when I wanted a new exhaust I organised one for a Nur Spec R.

Yes agreed plenty to learn about running GBs for the future, but depsite it all going wrong, a pat on the back to M535i for putting the effort in. I just hope this ONE bad GB experience will not stop people running them in the future as it is us who will end up worse off in the long run.

I did read the whole thread and everything I say I stand by.
I have at no point suggested that you are ripping anyone off just merely pointing out that people need to be careful on group buys.

Right had a bash at fitting the mirror's so hear goes .
Remember im just a tyre fitter not an engineer lol so not the neatest but got the result i wanted .

this is std fitting
Name: S5002022.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 81.5 KB
because the back ar flat and the mounting look like this .
Name: S5002026.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 83.6 KB

so had abit of a grind .
Name: S5002031.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 90.5 KB
then i lined up the mirror to where i wanted it .
and this is how far the srew holes are from std fitment .
shocking ah !!!
so ones drilled with a little pilot drill as ive never drilled carbon befor so built it up to a correct size and with some bigger washers and self tappers and black sealent this is now the correct fit !
pic's dont show it with some black sealent just to wether proof it etc etc .

No worries mate, too many people are too quick to criticise, but they forget that when we run these GBs we do it off our own back, in our own time, and we get nothing more than the same discounts as everyone else in the GB.
