[QUOTE=phil_wrx;8223616]well i had a play with a very big and powerful merc last night, we got to some silly speeds for the conditions and no one was gaining anything so i backed off and let him carry on down the road at his silly speed.QUOTE]

I had almost the same thing last Saturday night with a pleb in a CS340 (I think) Merc on the M6 on the way back from Blackpool. This guy had been flashing head lights, overtaking and slowing down for 25 to 30 miles and really getting on my t*ts. He was looking like he wanted some entertainment.
So let's show this guy how fast a scoob is. Foot to the floor in sixth and left him standing,...... for about 4 seconds.
Then I got an overboost fuel cut and CEL for my trouble, plus a bill from ZEN for checking the motor out (thanks Paul).
And the Merc just carried on after I backed off.
No one but myself to blame, should have just backed of a little instead of trying to prove something that didn't need it.

I dont think its just subaru's that attract plonkers, I used to get my share of them in my M3 and at least in a scooby you dont have to prove its a real one. I lost count of of the people that asked me if it was a real M3 and then try and get you to nail it to prove it to them.
Most of the time i would let them go and really wind them up

And the spotty hot hatch drivers not doubt see us in exactly the same way you do Porsches and Ferraris.

The Porsche/Ferrari drivers probably have the same gripes about Scooby drivers trying it on...

guess he doesn't like to proved to not be driving the fastest car on the road and only like to play when its dangerous to do so

You'll get this with any performance car that advertises its potential as vividly as a scooby. The very fact that they want to try it on reflects praise for you car: a scooby is an icon, much like the cossie and the Evo.

TBH I just can't be bothered with em and let em get on with it. Even when I've shown them a clean pair of heels, I felt a right tool afterwards and when I backed off to keep things legal/safe, they would invariably drive like a complete **** to negate the significant performance advantage. I really don't want getting past me to be the reason they plow into a tree or some other person just going their business and, frankly, safety concerns aside, I don't want to be associated with such behaviour.

If they want to risk everything including their lives, Just let them get on with it. We dont need to race them or prove anything.

Well said that man and why does almost everyone then feel the need to then go on too say I "played/raced" this or that chav in this or that motor. Honest there's no need, nowt to prove to anyone just enjoy your Scoob for what it is and at the end of the day you no what it's capable of, don't rise to the bait let them get on with it.

I love it when some loon thrashes the nuts out of his/her corsa, clio, etc etc to get past me on a duel carriageway, just sit smiling at them and hoping they've got enough time to stop for the upcoming roundabout.

i agree with this, but in our defence (well mine at least)i've never goaded another car into playing, always the other way round in my experience of even porkas/ferraris. I think a lot of us like to suprise said porsche/ferrari driver that their car isn't much faster if at all

PMSL just got home from town and had a young lad try and race me.

It was an old N reg honda civic, it looked like he had covered it in supa glue and then ram raided halfords.

What is it with these people.

Correct however the Highway Code says:

"109. Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right.

- If the area is bordered by a solid white line, you should not enter it except in an emergency.

- If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so."

i doubt 'wanting to push in at the front' could be classed as necessary. Usually these are to mark our junctions and give traffice refuge so over taking in them is a bit daft TBH. However, overtaking on a road which has them right down the middle in a thin band is fine i think....

Some challenges are quite funny, however.

I pulled up at some lights once only to hear a car screech to a halt in the lane adjacent to me, the owner then proceeded to rev the nuts off the car. I glanced over to see who was being so confrontational and it was.....

I had more hastle from people in scoobies (any age/model) when I was in my Porsche than ANY other marque... It got to the point where my wife would say "oh no...not again.don't they have a life?"...

And now I find myself in one again.... and the hastle is from the beat up old MR2 turbo's etc... it's all part of the "my car's quicker for less money" stigma..

LOL, if I'm honest, I was shaking so much my hopelessly primitive adjustable coil-overs with in car EDFC adjustment was in danger of being shaken off its pillow ball top mounts. The sound of his naturally aspirated 1.3 (60 bhp) engine, clearly put my turbocharged 340 bhp lump to shame.

The atire of the driver, tracksuit top and cap, with a Lizzy duke chain, clealy bespoke a driver with car control beyond the aspirations of most mere mortals.

But even worse than all that, the driver clearly had a Christmas tree air-freshner and you don't mess with a car with that mod!!!

I knew I was a beaten man!

Well the new ones are a bit lardy compared to the mkI's...all that gold probably screwed his power to weight ratio anyway

Although a couple of weekends back i had a white porsche turbo trying to entice me into a race by overtaking six cars almost metres from a roundabout i know it was for my benefit as i had overtaken a car in the que further back on the straight, looked nice for the 100k he had spent on it but i think he was hoping to leave me standing

it surprising how much power you need to leave someone standing, he should have roughly 150bhp on me although i am sure this would have showed had he gone beyond the speed limit. At the end of the day it did looking stunning though

not into enticing people by the way, before i get shot down in flames but not going to turn down an offer from a porsche

I was a passenger in my dad's scooby and we attracted a right plonker, couldnt believe he wanted a race when all he had was an Aston Martin .

Bit of harmless accelerating to join the M60 and chill.

Im a plonker too as I am attracted to Scoobies.

good point, I guess it depends on the perspective of the hassled driver...

Guys i live in Bradford and its full of ****wits with scoobies evos and gtrs tearing up the roads with no regard for anyone! half of em cant' see over the steering wheel the other half look stoned! when i owned my black on black 04wrx sti people stared at you constantly probably thinking "there's another young lad thinking he owns the road" to be honest the image was a right turn off eventually. A recent investigation by the west york met police uncovered that 60% of drivers in Bradford are driving with no insurance!

I loved my scooby so much so that I'm gonna get another sti 05 or 06 as the hawkeyes are v.rare round here compared to the classics/bugs/blobs, its a shame such a good car is stereotyped in such a way...even though Q7's M3's and Rs4's are becoming chavy here with dicks behind the wheels....*******!

Rant over!
