Glad about that; as my uncle has invested a lot of money in making Subaru cranks

Haaa! Subaru owners must be cranks! Guilty as charged, sir. <I love that word crank - highly amusing>

Rossi, nope, never missed a gear. I've hardly driven the thing, which makes it all worse.

I'd be looking at the terms and conditions of the warranty carefully, and if there isn't a specific new owner clause (which I'd question the legality of), I'd be going to trading standards and taking legal advice on claiming the cots of a new build.

In the meantime, you'll need to get the car elsewhere for a second (and impartial) opinion of the damage and probable cause. If they suspect a dodgy build and can provide evidence you'll have a good chance of winning a legal dispute.

It won't be the mapping if Bob took care of that.

Don't lie down on this one mate.

Taking him to court would cost me a lot of time and money which I just don't have at the moment; it's why I never went down that route. Hopefully I'll be having it built elsewhere.

There was no time scale on the warranty. It simply says ''engine warranty, 10k miles.'' He's also put a disclaimer as follows: ''not responsible if neglected and recommend no more than 1.4 bar boost.'' The previous owner also said that the warranty was on the engine. I still have his PMs where it shows him saying that warranty was/is on the engine. But, to be honest, he might have lied to me as I know tuners don't give warranties which are transferable. It'll teach me not to trust ANYONE, no matter who they are.

I asked the builder how much to rebuild (roughly) and he came back with... £2000 for parts and £1500 labour! He's really trying to help me, eh?

I would go and pay the Citizens Advice Bureau a visit and see what they have to say about the warranty?
If you have cause for complaint and are indeed skint, the small claims court can get him to deal with it, you could even argue for another mechanic/garage/tuner to fix it if you have no faith in his work and can prove as such that he is incompetent!

I would personally name and shame, so other users are aware of the company. I am suppose to be having my gearbox built by them but i am having 2nd thoughts now.

P.S- i read your post on the esc section and i might be able to help you with a transporter.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it further and see what can happen.

L.J.F, you have a PM.

10k rebuild???? take it the engine has been forged internally???

i'd be asking for pics of the rods too, someone one here might be able to confirm if its forged items or not.

It had stock internals. The heads were ported and polished and it had uprated fast road cams. The rods seem to be perfect.

Schumacher,

This guys taking the ****, big time!! He's trying to have you over.

Get the car out of there and take it elsewhere. Tell him your going to sue him for not honouring the warranty and also tell him your going to make sure you tell everyone on Scoobynet who he his, what his business name is, where he's based and what he's done.

Arseholes like this deserve to go bankrupt!!

Worse case scenario get the car back to Donny and I'll build it for you.

Yup, I moved the car last Monday. If only you had offered to build it sooner! Would've saved me a lot of hassle and cash.

Will let everyone know who it is once I get my car back.
