18 year olds dream project
One observation though, I think you'll need to get the paint off some surfaces that you should have masked off. These will be the block faces where the two block halves meet, the water pump block face and the oil pump block face. I'd want that to be bare block rather than a painted surface purely for the fact that it needs to seal properly it may be ok now but in the long run I think you may have an issue. It might be worth cleaning those surfaces up. Other than that mate you're doing a cracking job!!
Great build so far - and a very intersting read - really looking forward to seeing how the car turns out!
Got the gearbox out but found a problem
the box must of been out before and whoever fitted it back in broke the stud in the chassis rail and instead of tryin to fix it the tw*t just welded the mount to the chassis rail
you can see in the pics below

you can see the bolt head but its just rattling about because the stud has come off inside the chassis rail

got the subframe out too

I was goin to grind it off and clean up the engine bay but ive just used up my last grindin disc

Ok .... seriously impressed! .... and the pod and the flocking - awesome!
Just one question - it's pure curiosity and nothing to do with the thread really but, what do you do for a job?! - you seem to have lots of time!!! lol! (every time I do stuff on my car I end up having to drag the floodlamps out onto my driveway! lol!)

nice project you have there fella i also have a silver turbo and have thought about the black detailing myself but have decided that a silver boot with black spoiler and black bonnet vents on silver bonnet looked better rather than changing whole boot, bonnet and painting roof to black! just another angle for you to think about mate with you being unsure and all
did abit more work today, got the dash back out, old fuel lines out, all black trim off and abit of welding (my first proper weldin and not just practicing).
