How many Subaru owners would......

Hi just putting my pennys worth in most people should know when buying a scooby you are not buying quality build but you are going for road handling and perfomance. Just my thoughts,if someone can show me a car with the same performance same money I may give it a try but thats not to say I dont love the car infact I liked it so much I paid £3500 more than I should have as I couldnt be bothered to wait the 3-4 months it was going to take on the boat(jap Import) so I just bought one that was from a Jap Import dealer paying £27000. p.s also had the evo 6 for a couple of days performance figures didnt even come anywhere close to the sti5type r IMHO

The scoob has put most of us on the fast track to performance car enjoyment !
It is in all respects the one of best experiences of real performance motoring... However it does leave a taste for more !!!
This is the same no matter what car you have if its quick you want to go quicker - The trouble is there is not much that is quicker than a scoob in the same price bracket !!!
The point is for those that are fortunate enough the next step is an evo7 or P1 or 22b or STI or Carrera Turbo - for the rest of us we stick with what we know and love and what can be tuned...
Unless the finances are there - the scoob will stay !
Rgegards,
Paul

Although the Scoobs a great car, grin factor and all that...I think the next car I get will be about turning heads (AKA *&%%$ magnet!)- like a supra or elise. Most of times I'm stuck in traffic.

Had a 1994 L reg UK Scoob. One of the first ones into the UK, and a bit of a dark horse. Nobody knew about them back then. Changed it for a 1999 STI 5 Type R V-ltd. Did 22000 miles in 11 months in that car. Reliability was never an issue. Ran thirstily on SUL. Build quality a bit of a letdown on the STI, but not as bad as crappy UK interiors ( Present WRX is better).
Wouldn't buy another, as I have had the delight of Germanic build quality and 40 odd mpg with my 330D Sport. Sorry, but as an all-round car, wet or dry, hot or cold, the Beemer has it.
Matt
PS - I do still have a Nissan in the Garage though! LOL

No way on this earth will I ever get another one
I spent 12k on mine ( at the age of 25 that’s a lot of cash) wanted one for a long time, read everything there was to read on them.
Finally got it, found it understears like a dog, and the quality is simply taking the P**s out of us.
I plan of keeping it for 3 years or so (I should have finished my masters by then) and will look to get something else (BETTER) to keep me happy while I do my phd
I have no confidence in the thing (intend to get all the usual handling mods as soon as I can afford them), there is no feel in the car (maybe im just used to my cbr 400,, feels a lot more responsive).
Of all thouse of you who say they are good, how many of you have driven fast bikes? Or are you just using a mondeo as a comparison (not a poke at you, I am generally interested)
Bought the thing to replace the fast bikes I had (unsafe) this thing simply does not put a mile on your face like one wheel claming for the sky
But after a crash (silly bing with a cat on her lap can me over) and 16 breaks, I wont be back on a bike, so got to settle for the next best thing (and in my mind, that’s all a Scooby is, a substitute)

I don't ride bikes but I do drive a Caterham SLR at the weekends, which as you will know is very much like a bike!!
I love my MY01, granted, I have done quite a few things to make it go faster around corners and in straight lines, but even so what else can you buy for 30K that is going to give your as much pleasure? I consistantly burn off anything that wants to be burned off. That includes several cossies.
It is also one of the most reliable cars you can buy which = more days with smiles on your face!! I will be buying another one for sure, but for now I will be racing around Monday to Friday smiling away in my own little world.
