Lets reintroduce some objectivity here.
Latest boxster 06 3.4 Power to weight = 219bhp/tonne
03STi with 350 bhp Power to weight = 245.25 bhp/tonne
The subaru would win in terms of straight line performance and would also have a significant traction advantage in the bends. The torque for mid range overtaking etc would also significantly favour the scooby.
A talented driver (that's most of us out, including me) could get similar lap times/point to point times in them.
For those of us with more enthusiasm than skill, the Scooby would be the car we were significantly quicker in.
The Boxster is actually a lovely car and doesn't deserve it's poor man's Porsche status, but they shouldn't loose any sleep over us Subarus, as the Impreza turbo was once described in Autocar (IIRC) as the poor man's 911 turbo!

Its not all down to power to weight though is it? once the speeds rise a lot of it is aerodynamics and transmission loss.
Agree though a fairly competant driver would be able to push a Subaru further than a Boxster in the wet at least.

off the line the scoob will win, once rolling there will be ****all in it, you cannot "demolish" someone with an extra 20bhp/ton or so it takes a good hundred brake imo.
You think Boxsters have a bad image, have you seen what everyone in the whole world (except for scoobynet) thinks of imprezas?
You dont get many bodykits, barry grafix innit, phat bean can zorsts, shopping lists down the doors and mega ice in the boxster fraternity, yet every other scoob is indervijuwel barry tat imo

Also, the higher speeds we're talking about here are 120+ by which point most contests are well and truly over. Are you going to take your porka to 140mph on the M25 to prove a point....probably not
Imprezas excel at the sprint to 100mph. I've had a 911 C4 as a passenger in my car during a 0 to *ahem* 70 demo and his response was "It's as quick as mine". That said mine is a classic with a power to weight ratio of 270bhp per tonne.

Well being in the lucky position where I'm running 320bhp and my wife has a Boxster S...
In the damp or from the line the Subaru will always win hands down... In the dry (and on twisty if required) once you're rolling there's very little in it. The Porsche is nicely balanced so if you want to you can have a lot of fun
Sound track wise the Porsche wins hands down (mine's PPP'd) especially at 4-6k
If it's a standard Boxster these are significantly slower HTH

found this on youtube for you ..Boxster S vs 350bhp Impreza at Nurburgring

LOL, that's my shed in that video.
We were cruising round messing about, so don't draw any conclusions from the video. Normal lap times are over a minute faster. A few points that spring to mind...
1. the shed was on brand new, untested ASTs. It is now 50% stiffer at the front and 66% stiffer at the rear with +10mm ride height.
2. the driver gets bored, so he was messing around trying to upset the car through corners
3. even with 70bhp more, the Impreza will be mullered above 90mph in a straight line. The Porsche was not holding up anyone.
4. if you think Boxsters are crap, you need to ask soopdragon for a ride at 150mph+, flat through the Foxhole
5. "poor mans Porsche"? Only ever said by idiots who haven't driven one vs a 911 round the Ring. Why do you think they never put their decent motors in the Boxster? All the weight is low down and in the right place and it shows

Ok what i will say is this, When road conditions start to suffer. i.e. bumpy roads, potholes, wet weather, then a Boxster owner would really struggle against an AWD car like a Scooby or an EVO, Mine had more punch out of corners than my buddies Boxster and he even admitted on crappy roads he would not stand a chance, however outright grip and handling on smoother drier roads then it would shine.
Come on chaps - how can you say this looks gay!!!!
I love the looks and i'm neither a hairdresser or gay - or at least i dont think i am

just not my cup of tea, i think the caymen has alot to answer for as well, suposedly if it had the spec of a 911 it would be better than the 911, but they wanted it to sit in between the two.

mmmm, i dunno, lol only joking.
tbh i'm of the opinion that most sports cars, as in proper sports cars like porsches, ferraris etc are designed and built for looks over performance so itss compramised.
if i was gonna have any of them then i would want something like a 911 gt2. full on hardcore peformance car
