Nah, the 8.5m is pretty useless unless youre gonna jump with it. You need it in at least 18-22mph to get the most from it. In those winds, you couldnt hold it down anyway. It will have you off the floor in 12mph no problem.
Get used to the 4.9m first... take it easy to begin with though fella, it will rip your face off if you disrespect it lol.

You will if you fly the 4.9 in much over 15mph mate. If you bang it up quick you will get picked up. The 4.9 generates alot of lift.. fast!
The 4.9 will pick you up and put you down quick, but if you fly it sensibly you wont get bitten.
Depending on the wind id set the bridle on the 3rd knot away from you/ 2nd one away from the kite.
This will knock the lift back a little and it wont feel so spiteful. It will however make the kite sit further forward in the wind window and your upwind performance will be a little better.
I promise you one thing though mate... you will love it!

Well i guess Les Hemmes was the final straw for my buggy seat. I finished the weekend with it so stretched that my *** was on the bellypan.
So on my return i took it to a local oldschool marine sailmaker for some modification. I told her what id needed doing and the reasons why... of which she replied "i was nuts!" lol.
She called me today to say it was ready for collection. Gotta say im well chuffed with the job she has done.
The whole underside has been reinforced with 2" wide seatbelt webbing, topside has extra webbing at the sides, rear straps have reinforced picup points, the front end has a new large loop to fit around the modifed frame, fitted a stainless eyelet in for water drainage and also repaired a small tear for me.
Jollyed up my old seat a treat and now i really dont think i'll bust it anytime soon... next thing to go will be the buckles!

Rear pick up points

Also my 4m Blade IV arrived today completing my midnight quiver.

Blade bridles do look a bit confusing at first. Theres about twice as much bridle on a Blade than there are on the the others in the Flexi range.
Dont worry about it too much. Im happy to go through any of it with you if you want. The adjustable bridle is the same in opperation as it is on the Blurrs.
Deffo start off in light winds though mate, they have about twice as much grunt as a 5m Blurr in the same wind. They react completely different to the Blurrs so fly it static for a bit first. Dont wanna see you get hurt with it.

Ideally get some flight time in with the 5m Blurr first mate. The blade isnt forgiving at all... so just fly it in 10mph or so to start off with.

Wow what a day guys.
Started the day with a breezy but beautiful clear sky with sunshine. But it wasnt long before the wind started to get angry and really gusty. Wind was whipping regularly between 15-29mph and sometimes a bit more. So the 6.5m BIV went away and the 4.9m BIV came out.
I was mega light in the seat at times and everyone struggled with the conditions. Its the dirtiest ive ever seen the wind there, its normally pretty clean.
We all had a great day, and seeing as the sun was out i thought it would be rude not to take any pics. Well that was before the heavens opened and we quickly took refuge in the new clubhouse. Ha ha

Yeah they do, but thats what 4 years of riding and sponsorship does. Adams been riding for just over a year now. He has age on his side and absolutely no fear whatsoever lol.
That little fella really inspires me to push harder...
