Gearbox will be on borrowed time IMHO.

Bob Couldn't he just have a reduced map with boost down etc so he is not using the turbo to the max then when he is ready he can add more mods knowing he doesn't have to get another turbo?

Basically all he would then need to do is get the Sti bits in his wrx e.g. the 550cc injectors, tmic, etc when he is ready.

I know thats why I quoted you in full. I was actually agreeing with your statement and just adding that the 18G gives even more for not that much more money (for the turbo that is)......

If i got the 16g, could i then upgrade to an 18g wheel and housing? or does it not work like that?

what is the limit of a VF35 of anyone know's without it going pop??

If you got the 16g with supporting mods and used it at the top end of its capability, the mods list would be pretty much the same.

Best to set a budget and do it that way or costs will just spiral out of control.

What size injectors would i need? Would STI injectors be good enough? and clutch?

I was planning on the remap and STI intercooler anyway and already have new air filters.

Just fitted a VF43 to my 22B in conjunction with -

WR1 TMIC
550's
Harvey Smith ported headers/up-pipe
Simtek ECU (mapped by Bob Rawle)
H&S sportcat downpipe and BB

Result - 368bhp/340ftlb @ Motoscope.

No lag and very nice top-end.

as said 35 and 34 are very similar indeed, the roller bearing is designed to make spool up in line with the 35 but allow for better top end, sems to do the trick, but we aint talking huge mamounts here.

in reality theres sod all difference on the road between the two.

the winning factor is the 35 can be had cheaper, alot cheaper, due to second hand units being easy to find (off new age sti).

however i found that price wise your only talking £100 difference between the two if you buy them brand new so depends if you want that few extra ponies.

Oh, one further difference in the VF34s favour is that it seems a less prone to compressor surge than the VF35.

The vf34 imo is slightly superior to the vf35. So don't pay too much over a vf35 for it.

VF34p20 - a vf34 with a p20 exhaust housing have done 11.8 qtrs. So they are a handy turbo for the street.

If you get either turbo port the wastegate / housing.

On a good setup 370hp+ is achievable with meth.
