What do you reckon on the two I have posted as examples? Im looking for approx less than <f2.8, can be fixed lens. Would like to shoot mainly family & still car shots, not sure whether to go for a potrait or wide type lens.
Any ideas anyone?? (Jim??)

I've got a fixed f1.8 50mm on the Canon and like Darms said it's great for portrait shots, but I find it very difficult to get decent car shots with it, particularly at night. Something like a 18-70 might be better for what you want Ricky?
The camera shop at the top of Watford High St would give some decent advice I think, can't remember what the shop is actually called though.

The 18-70 is the factory lense on Ricky's Alpha 200 - they changed it to an 18-55 on the later cameras
I'm wondering how well these things work...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Opteka-Panor...=3FGYOJ6KO5Y85
Especially given the £600 tag for most Sony fisheye lenses

Thanks Jim, Darms, Matt for advice
I think Im almost sold on the "Sony DT 35mm f1.8 SAM Lens", its equivilant to a 52mm on a non C frame camera. For the price & reviews Iv read its pretty good. (see link below) Just need to get it at the best price now!

A decent 'prime' is always worth having in the bag...... and if you're not too bothered you can pick up some decent Minolta lenses which fit the Sony for well under £100. I picked up both a 50mm and a 35mm last year for around £200 (I think).
My newest toy is one of these...

Incidentally SRS is a great shop in Watford..... they sell cheap Sony batteries which are half the price and (so far) have outlasted three Sony batteries of similar age. Highly recommended

Love the Dubai pics Ricky- our Lumix's don't do too badly in good light do they?! The Maserati pic is a blinder, nice to see a different angle every now and then. Sometimes it's less about the camera and more about what the picture taker sees. Nice work mate.
What the heck is a GT4?
I was in Porsche Hatfield the other day to look at a Cayman S (zzz by the way) and they'd got a gorgeous GT2RS and a Carrera GT, yum! Well worth a look if you're bored!
FYI Jon the fisheye I got is similar to the Opteka one as it's for the Lumix. Cheap as chips and works well, I'll just Photoshop the reflection from the converter tube out if it's for anything serious. Also, if you're looking for a giggle you can get an SLR conversion for some of the Lomography lenses too

Cheers for the gen on the fisheye - they do a macro version 2 so I might just treat myself and have a play
The Lumix is very good in bright light, in fact the original pics are far better, this rubbish Picassa website that hosts these pics likes to resize & destort them
I think after using a DSLR you end up trying harder & being more creative when reverting back to a compact, you almost have to make up for the lack of controls/adjustmensts with better composition etc. Though I think next holiday I will leave the Lumix & take the full fat DSLR instead!

I don't use the SLR at all nowadays.
Had a play with the new lens today but light was fading, no tripod or flash, not used to how accurate your focusing has to be on an f1.8 lens (most pics were taken on f1.8 for some stupid reason!!), and to make matters worse I had it on Spot focus!! Therefore images are not sharp across the whole subject in some pics,...hopefully next time they'l be better.
Oh yeah forgot to mention the subject of the pics, a good ol' 2010 plate Lambo Gallardo LP560-4, my bro in law got it for a few days from the P1 Club
