Grr...
Well, I have just got off the phone to the man in charge of the crime desk at Charing Cross police station (who was the most unhelpful, arrogant man I have EVER spoken to) and I have the name of the Chief Superintendant in order to issue a formal complaint against police.

After countless calls and letters to both the perpertrator and the police especially, I have had absolutely no joy from either party.

The Police tell me that they want to do nothing about the issue for reasons he was too stupid to understand. I am a victim a crime who has had absolutely no help from the Police service in the UK.

For a while, my respect to the police has deteriorated after the way I have been treated (present company excluded, Stuart).

I am sick to death of getting promised by the station officers that someone will call me back and this has NOT HAPPENED!

However, I am no longer going to employ sympathy or pity for nobody and now believe that the police are not doing their job. As the billboards say, I have paid my taxes, so where are the police? My letter of complaint shall be harsh and to the point. I will ask them where they expect me to claim my losses from.

I once witnessed a crime and came forward. The police/CID/justice system treated myself and the wife like criminals. I will never come forward as a witness again.

The Police seem to forget who are the victims and who are the criminals.

Sorry M8

So, if you had him done at the time, they would have pursued it.....

Now, too much bloody paperwork I guess....

You were the one that didn't want HIM to suffer at Christmas, now you have to suffer.

(Stuart, NOT having a go at you).

The police are undermanned. So much for the slimy puppet Blair's promises. And Jack (man of) Straw's.

AND the wasters will get back in again this May........

Cool

Hmmmm wrong angle of attack here Folks....

1. Don't speak to the organ grinder.... **** the bleadin head gorilla in charge off in stead i.e find the Fax number of the chief constable (covering your mishap) and fax him your complaint ...oops Head the article private and confidential addressee eyes only.

this will:-

a. **** off head honcho (he has to see it ....that's because of the addressee bit)

who will:-

**** off every smart alec blu*bo**le in the division/area.

This was once done in wakefield and ***** were still smoldering weeks later, after all he is probably a busy man who is either spending time practising Golf/ Funny hand shakes.and the last thing he wants is to even here from joe public let alone recieve a fax calling his darling little angels To***rs.

Ps. Dont forget to mention this well known popular thrase (spelling?) in your complaint (usually causes terror!) 'NEGLECT OF WILFUL DUTY' and how you want to take the complaint to the press.

If all else fails go down the east end make some discrete inquiries of people who can 'help you'.

M.
(this has been brought only slightly tongue in cheek.....)

I know you boys will probably disagree and object strongly and with just cause but over here in The land of sausages and cheap beer the locals respect such things as automobiles as expensive commodoties and treat them as there own. I.e don't open doors onto each others cars, kick cars, key cars or mistreat anybody elses vehicle like the ******* in England do, my car is 6 months old and does not have one single scratch on it and also does not have anti bump strips down the sides.
Camk - possible back me up on this!!

Other course of action may be a civil suit against the bloke/mother. Small claims should be enough to get the money back with minimal expense to your self.

Failing that report the guy for going 31 mph in a 30, that'll have em round ASAP

But thats the point, I now have fuc.k all to go with as the police wont act on my requests. Typical case of criminal gets away and good ol' cem loses out on over a grand.
The question now is whether I have the time, money and effort to proceed with civil action against this guy from canada? Frankly, I can't see myself as coming through a winner in this.

Really sorry to hear all that Cem.

If there is one thing we can all learn from this it is to pursue the matter immediately, season of goodwill or not, rather than let it lie for a few days.

Never met you, but you're actions suggest you are a really nice bloke, hope you get something sorted.

Thanks a lot for the words guys.
Cheers for the help Stuart.
Diablo, I am too nice a person, which is why people take advantage of me.

I have sent a FORMAL complaint to Scotland Yard and to the Chief of Charing Cross station.
Will keep you posted.

Cem, really, really hope it works out - I've got some small idea how you feel..

Couple of years ago, I was stationary in a traffic queue (in my old Range Rover fortunately!) when I saw in my n/s mirror a scrotty mk1 Cavalier coming down the inside, 2 wheels well on the pavement, presumably wanting to turn left at a junction about 3 cars in front of me.

I'm stopped alongside a lamp post..

When chummy got alongside me (3 teenage blokes in Cavalier, Puffas, etc, giggling) he saw the lamp post, didn't stop or slow down, but squeezed through between it and me, 2 wheels still on the pavement. Loud thump of old black mirror on my door, followed by scraping as he went by..

Then he turned left, still with two wheels on the pavement, and JUST missed a young woman pushing a baby in a pram, who walked round the (blind) corner as he drove by, bumped down back onto the road, and shot off.

I was so angry at this dangerous berk and the VERY near miss with the pedestrian that I got his number, went straight to the local Police Station (only 150 yards away) and reported him. I didn't even care so much about the black scrape he left on my door.

I discovered that, as I was reporting an incident, I had to be given a "producer"!! A pain, but OK, fair enough, I only live round the corner, so went straight home and got the papers, went back to the station. On the way, I saw the Cavalier parked up (seemed a local car). Got back to the Station, produced my docs, told PC the Cavalier is now parked in Xroad, please have a word with him. (All I was after was for the Police to have a stern word with the idiot, I didn't ask for him to be flung into Dartmoor!).

I heard nothing until about 3 months later I got a pro-forma reply saying "After exhaustive (sic) enquiries, it has been impossible to trace the car reg xyz*** and so no further action will be taken"

This car was, at the time I reported it, parked about 200 yards from the police station, AND I told them where to find it.
And it was ME who got a "producer"!!

Lot of effort made there... not.

Steve.
