Chances are that the phenolic insulator was a different grade MADE by Tufnol Ltd. "Tufnol" is used rather like Hoover.
How does making the phenolic insulator thinner, avoid having to use OEM gaskets to seal - unless they were never needed in the first place with the thicker gaskets made by Carl?

Having not tested Carl's insulators it's hard to comment but I doubt that gaskets were required both sides, it's just belt and braces.

Chances are we did conduct thorough testing to select the apprpriate material - the Phenolic grade used in our insulating products certainly wasn't made by Tufnol.

Sorry to have a go, but "Tufnol" seems to be sold in certain markets without any thought that it comes in many forms for many applications.
There is also "Tufnol" on the market that is made in the Far East and is a pretty poor copy.
