Sounds about right - looks like it has been detuned by ford to fit precisely into band F.

EVO rate (or did in Dec 06) it above the Focus

Autocar do as well.

Not saying car mags are always right but the GTI is a lot better than people 'assume' or decide having driven a MK4 TDI

Both are good cars and there's plenty of reasons to chose either. I guess cack looks could be a decider and certainly played a part for me - those viper stripes look so ****e cack lol

They don't all have Viper stripes

I love the look of mine, looks more about it than the Golf IMHO:

Nice looking motor

I would post a pic of my far superior looking golf but I seem to keep driving into concrete posts, hedges etc at the moment so it's not looking it's best

Golf handling can't be the best then?

Neil, I await your post when you have the DS fitted, go straight for the Race+ map, you will be amazed. Only cost another £22 on insurance as well.

I'm running the DSCi map at the minute, but I prefer the brutality of Race+ I think!!

I remember smiling a lot when I first tried the DS!!

PS paid £340 for mine with 4 lives left (i.e. can be used on another 4 cars before reset at £100)

Small point, but the MK5 GTI is 189g/km...no idea if that puts it in a lower tax brand or not though

According to Parkers.co.uk the Gold is in band J which makes it £260 next year and £270 in 2010 compared to K £300 and £310 respectively for the Focus ST. So £40 over a year. Cheaper but not enough to effect a decision considering other costs IMHO.

Very nice Neil; should last you a little while before you need to get a People Carrier.

See you soon mate,
