30-130 about 11 or 13 seconds I think, was the first time id used the car in anger after about 15 months off the road and a total rebuild - so not sure if slow times was due to no set up time - no experence with the new car or the headwind or all three. Did 178 top speed but lost my roof gutters in the process
I actually did a 180 odd before that on my first run - ran out of runway at the end, and had to go on the grass - got back to the MLR hut, and the guy informed me they forgot to put a chip in the V box
A week later went to pod - did 13 seconds - then 11s then 10s, just kept tweeking things and learing to drive the thing again - i think theres another 60 hp to have at the top end - as it runs out of breath a little.

Hi Si,
Impressive results on the 1/4
its really weird how cars work sometimes in the real world, as your 1/4 time is (currently, until i try again) 0.3 secs quicker than mine, yet on the 30-130 day my time was nearly 4 seconds faster!! bizarre. Sounds like on that day you must have had some sortof set up issues at the very least, although that certainly didnt stop your top end run!!

Yes - I think the ALS has helped launches on the 1/4 - but at 30-130 the turbo was too cold on the first run, so it just misfired with no extra spool, so it seemed to bog between gears, it was worth doing 180 thou and running off the end of the runway - just to hear my passengers screams, and then watch him run to the WC in the mess room once we were back in the pits
I guess now its going to be an exercise of diminishing returns as I chip away at 10.6, but ive done 6-7 runs in the tens over two saturdays so cars pretty consistant now.
BTW what spec u running Neil? Is there a link to your car?

Hi Sy,
there isnt a link perse, the peak power of mine seems to be in the same sort of ballpark as yours though, but with a few extra lbs of weight!...it was dynoed (at zen) at 640/509 @ 1.7bar last year and fundementally nothing has changed engine wise since that point. It was peaking at slightly higher boost at marham though (1.85) so power may have been a little up from the 640 but not too much, maybe 660 or so. I was hoping to be running the full fat 2bar but never got a chance to get it done, but that will come soon.
Im hoping to get down in tothe lower eschelons of the 10 sec bracket this year, with the weight loss the cars been on it should be achieveable (the 10.9 was done with nearly full trim @ 1.62 bar peak) so hoepfully with a bit more grunt and abotu 130 kgs less weight to haul around it should be pretty handy
Still on a stock box too

Looks good Sy, looking forward to Saturday morning now, should be good to see the effects. A larger I/C pipe from the outlet of the I/C to the TB might be nice to sort when the new throttle body goes on!
It will be nice to see 650+ for now, there is more in it for sure.

Hi Neil,
Ah i c - on the way up to 30 -130 i stopped at Standstead services and had a chat with a couple of guys with skylines, was it you?
Did you weigh your car at 30-130?
I was 1227 without driver, which I was pleased with, as i run full interior and electric windows etc but spent a lot of time doing descrete weight saving.

Yes it will be good to see a direct comparison, to see what the cosworth manifold does.
Re the I/C pipe, I have a WRC accumilator which ill bring up to show you. Im thinking thou the WRC guys only used theses for the start, so may be a red herring, so see what you think on Saturday.

I thinks its 28 litres, I get about 90 miles - but thats running to empty, so I normally carry a spare can or two if on a jouney - they are really good thou, with very little surge at all. Apart from local blasts - I tend to take the car to events on a trailer - its cheaper

I bought an Ifor Williams HD136 for about 1300+vat new, its just big enough for the subi (about 2" each side on the bed), and its has 4 small wheels, so you can open the doors easily. I looked at secondhand ones but they were all going for 1000+ and they all needed work/tyres etc.
I registered for Prostreet in 2008, but car never got finished - I try and get there this year.

Its hard to say how much power the cossie mani is worth in isolations - all i can say is fitting it with a larger IC pipe and a larger TB made the power spread to further up the rev range, i was getting max power at 5600 but running out of puff at 7k - now it runs to 8k. So on paper those mods netted about 35bhp peak, but the amount and spread of extra top end is imense.
The TB is Denso from a Nissan Titan 5.6L V8 -(paid $100 + shipping on ebay) its DBW so need a bit of setting up as Motec havent characterised this type yet.
I went to TDI to get some nos a few weeks ago - they were interested enough in my car to do a quick run it their hub dyno - it made 560 at the hubs with out the NOS switched on. That was at 2.2 bar on VP import.
(Should of been 2.3 bar, but MAP sensor was giving a low calibration of .9)
Hi Peter
Apart from the items above.
1. Im in TOTB team this year.
2. Did a PB of 10.6 in March this year
3.Stripped 4 gear 2 weeks ago racing MadHammer at the Pod (Turned boost to 2.4, did my PB 330ft - then bang)
4. Delivered Manual Gearbox to Zen for repair today
5. Got an email that my auto box is on its way by air freight. So Im hoping to be in a position in a couple of weeks to have the option of chosing auto or manual for TOTB. Auto Faster 1/4 - but top end a bit limiting for top speed run.
6. the subi is in this months redline racing a lambo
Peter
Your build has inspired my to go front mount this winter and rad in the boot or underneath where the petrol tank used to live.
Regards
Sy
