A UK car does not have the "cat on fire" sensor.

It would all depend on what "lights" you have lit on the dashboard, but fitting the lambda would stop the engine management light coming on due to the lack of lambda.

Angry Another update

Wel after the seller of the decat expalined that he had simply welded a smaller threaded section into the d/p I set about grinding off the weld. the middle section that he had welded in, then fell out revealing no M18 original thread so I am a little fooked off now to say the least.

I cant retap the thread as the original one appears to have been filed away which would mean any new thread would be too big.

cant you get the old lambda boss welded up and get a new welded in?

No existing lights sorry, i just meant would fitting the lambda prevent any lights (the engine management one by the sounds of it) from appearing. Which it would.
