The Phormula knock looks the daddy, nice peice of kit

Will be looking into widebands before the major work starts.

Also looking into rotating the inlet manifold to try and keep the I/C pipes as short as possible. Not sure yet how involved it is, though the alternator definately needs to be relocated.

Damn weather, was hoping to use the garage to start work, but after 4 hours cleaning the scoob last week, I don't want it to get wet!!

Alternator is an easty fix, just flip it on the stock mount and make an adjustment bar on the AC side.

Spinning the intake is a very worthwhile idea but you will need to machine a new boss to mount the Throttle body on. and relocate some of teh pipe work and fuel rail setup etc.

Indeed the phormula is the best knock detection kit out there, for idebands id be looking at the offerings from Innovate. It seem the best boys in the business all use Innovate. Their kit is second to none in terms of quality and reliability.

I guessed spinning the intake around wasn't as straight forward as it looked, though it's coming off to be polished soon, so will have a good look.

I'm going to continue playing around with my own knock display, but will be getting the phormula knock as it looks the nuts and a wideband is a must really, so will look into that as well, can't be too careful with a modified engine!

 

First mod almost done.

Had a result on Ebay the other day, a guy was selling a faulty Wharfedale DVD player with motorised screen (DIN size) and I got it for £20. Connected it up and it worked fine, it appears that the numpty bought it and didn't connect the handbrake safety wire, so the screen turns off when the handbrake is off!

The DVD is pretty basic, with no pre-outs, so I decided to wire this into my Kenwood head unit as this runs the amp and rear speakers (Front speakers to be changed and wired into the amp at a later date)

As the car only has a single DIN aperature for a stereo, a little cut and shut was iin order, so out came the dremel with a cutting disk, and cut out the cigarette lighter and ashtray. The Kenwood was moved down into this new hole and the DVD in the original position. I soldered some phono plugs onto the speaker wires and bought an Aux in lead to plug into the Kenwood, so hopefully should get a decent sound when watching Top gun and the like!!
