Good news John - I'm hoping for a similar feeling when I get the Link in mine
PS Have narrowed problem down to clogged air filter (was full of ****), plus a hole in intercooler - will also be replacing fuel filter next Sat to see if this makes the difference. Once it's running how it should be, the Link will be going in

still smiling .
the car seems so much better off boost,I do not have to wait for the turbo to come in to make progress.pulling away even seems smoother with less revs needed.
boost seems to have calmed down to 15/16psi peak with held boost 1psi higher than with green ECU and held far smoother.the old ECU peaked to 15,then dropped to 13,then went to 14 then to 13 again before tailing off.the black ECU goes to 15 and holds it or sometimes peaks at 16 and holds 15.
soooooooooo sssmmmmmooootttthhhhhh,compared to before .
see ya at K/hill john ,knew you would join in eventually .

Although I've posted the same in the other ECU thread I'll also post here. My MY00 has a green AE 782 ECU. Add it to your list Steve.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

I'm going to see if I can source an AE800 ECU from a car breaker. Can anyone give a guide price for one they have obtained this way ? Also, would a 99/00 PPP ECU work aswell >:-) ? If so does anyone know how to identify one ? ie. Colour of sticker & model no's.
Thanks,
Andy.
On a completely unrelated note - how do you guys get the smilie gifs into your posts ?

my car was parked outside most of the day and for the first time since fitting the AE800 I got very slight hesitation,on gentle thottle between 2000 and 3000rpm.it did not seem as bad as it used to.
the car is still going great ,off boost it is still stronger and held boost is far better controlled, although it is now only slightly higher than the AE802,almost nothing in it.the peak is still higher to at over 15psi,but this does not worry me in the slightest as the figures from StephenDones tests were quite similar and showed the same pattern of higher peak and similar held.

You can use a PPP ECU. They have a Pink STi sticker. Giving you the code number off mine probably wouldn't help as they also may be different.
I learnt the smilie from T-uk by thinking, "How do I stick my tongue out like he does" just like I think, "How do I drift around roundabouts like he does". I could answer the former by clicking to edit one of his posts and seeing what he typed. The latter will need practice T-uk you are my hero
A few sample smilies for you there!

Never done that one ! Learn something new every day
Sorry I am muppetising a very noble thread, but the newbie boy sent it off topic asking about smilies.
And I don't want you all to think that I only ever think about boost control even if it is true
But John does drive roundabouts quite nicely
