That looks incredibly bad!

I'm surprised the bloody thing is still together. Not seen anything like that since Mick51WRX (not Mick, another Mick) stuffed his (lightly) on a run out with us one night. IIRC it was an OZ Superleggera, ripped the rim completely off the spokes, two of which were turned into the WYIOC karting trophy (Dazza has it cos he's little)

The rim, however, was completely in tact, and spent a year or so propping up a wrecked Astra next to my unit until it mysteriously vanished overnight, along with the car

IMHO, if there's no damage to the rim I'd consider taking things up with the coaters. If this is 'impact' damage then I'd have expected the wheel to collapse, it looks more like a stress fracture caused by sudden heating / cooling.

(Don't have a clue what I'm going on about, but it sounds good to me... though I've been on the beer a little)

Love you all *hic*

Scott check all the wheels !

I agree with Sticky, the heat cycle has either triggered a failure due to previous stress fracturing, or weakened the alloy.

try these fellas, I'm off work tomorrow so can collect for you !

P.S. If one has gone don't trust the others, if it is related to the baking of the paint, then they are all affected ! Glad mine are spray painted

just been discussing this issue at work, if the alloy wheel is made out of magnesium alloy this would explain the cracks, this form of alloy once the wheel is manufactured it can not be reheated do to the structure of the material . you can reheat normal alloy. hope this helps.

Magnesium wheels cost a small fortune though. I can't see Subaru supplying them OE.

if the wheel manufacturer used a alloy mix of 30% magnesium, 70% normal then this could be enough to affect it when reheated.

Would be lots lighter if they had a sniff of magnesium in them.

Scott got a spare set if you need to be mobile !
