Is there any way to identify if my car already has the Prodrive springs fitted or in fact any other after market springs? Particular colour or markings etc??

Thanks.
I have a 2001 WRX mate, running the same wheels and Prodrive springs.
I did find the Prodrive springs much firmer than standard, although tbh running 18's over 17's will make it a little firmer anyway. I'm been running standard 17" wheels with winter tyres over the last few months and it's a little more comfortable, although not much.

The WRX Prodrive springs are powder coated blue - probably royal blue would be the colour I'd describe em as.

Cool, thank you. Is it worth just doing the springs on there own or is it not worth it and better to do the other modifications mentioned in this thread (arbs and links etc)??

IMHO do the rear ARB and links first. Replace the bolts too at the same time. No realignment needed all DIY.

Recently replaced the standard springs on my girlfriend's 05 STi with prodrive springs. The lower coils were fitted with plastic tubing to reduce the clatter.

Great thread guys and extremely useful!

I'm looking to lower my 03 WRX soon after I have a remap, exhaust etc done early Feb and this has answered my questions. I think I will buy a set of prodrive springs to drop the ride height a little

I don't think your springs should clatter at all if they're seated properly mate?

Depends what you want mate.
The rear ARB will eliminate a lot of the inherent understeer of the car allowing you to corner far better.
Lowering Springs reduce the roll a little more, and give the car a more aggressive stance at the expense of comfort.

I believe the tubing is there to stop noise if the coils compress enough to cause them to touch (coil bind)

I have a complete set of STi struts with Prodrive springs fitted that came from my 03 STi after fitting Apex coilovers. 37k miles and no knocking.
If anyones interested, let me know?

Its more to reduce ride height than to improve performance. The car is my daily driver and I have not found the level of understeer too much of a problem however since I added 18" wheels it sits a little high for my liking

If, on your 18's, you have the correct profile tyres, the ride height will not be altered, as the overall rolling radius of the 18's will be the same as the 17's

Mine is a daily driver too.
Pound for pound, the ARB and droplinks will improve the handling more and for over £100 less than springs will cost you.

You may not have noticed the understeer but I guarantee you'd notice it when it was gone!

Just so you're aware!

Hi, my wrx wagon is fitted with prodrive and the ride quality is fantastic. No noise over speed humps and my fillings are all in place. Having swapped from an evo 7 to the wrx I'm very pleased with this set up.
Hope this helps.

@ JohnD - you're right the circumference is the same as is the ride height it's just now I've sorted the wheels ride height is now further up the list for forthcoming mods

@ bugeye_Scoob - fair point about the understeer I guess if I can get a good deal on getting both done at once it may be worth saving for a further couple of months and doing it all at the same time

@ Deanswrx - glad to hear prodrive springs don't result in the ride being far too harsh!

I can only assume so but I can't be certain. I'm sure someone on here can confirm one way or the other!

Sorry to resurrect this old thread again, but wondering if this applies to just newage? I have a classic and am now leaning towards buying the rear ARB first along with droplinks. Was gonna get a set of Eibach springs later on but after reading this am wondering if i can get prodrive springs for my 93 Classic Import WRX.

Thanks in advance for you help, this thread has been very helpful

Yeah pretty sure they do make the prodrive springs, but to a different specification to their own.

ARB and links first is the smart move mate. Re springs I'd just buy Eibach, the difference is purported to be negligible.

As above. That's the same advice I took from a Subaru tuner when I set out to improve the car's handling and reduce the inherent understeer. Once lowered, be sure to get a fast road geometry setup which will further eliminate understeer .

+1 prodrive springs are coloured blue and have eibach stamped on them with a code no and have plastic wrap on top/bottom of the springs.
std eibach springs are black.

Like he said .
P.S. Re the last post, not sure my Prodrive springs had "plastic wrap" on the top and bottom - or if they did I never noticed it.
You sure that's not a classic only feature midnight?

Read this with interest as I've been trying to source (2nd hand) a set of Prodrive springs for my WRX Bug fitted with Sti Struts.

The springs seem to have been taken off Prodrives site at the mo, I can only find a suspension kit on there ?

Can someone please clear up if the RED Prodrive springs are for the Sti strut and the BLUE springs for the WRX struts ?

What other "off the shelf" spring would you get for 2002 Sti struts as an alternative ?

Si.

WRX springs won't fit STI struts mate, they're a different design.
As you said, blue for WRX, red for STI.
Alternatives would be Eibach, Whiteline or Tein springs.

This set: https://www.scoobynet.com/subaru-par...uk-bugeye.html

Although looks like they've been sold
