JDM V UK
I've got my eye on a few cars at the moment but work is so hectic that I'm not getting the chance to actually book anything up
My JDM STi seemed to perform well against better equipped cars at Brands Hatch last week, all this on the OE spec 2.0ltr engine and tyres
The standard MY05 2.0ltr engine has a fair sized blower strapped to it, currently running 430bhp and 400ftlbs, but still still unopened and still running with the OE STi Top Mounted Intercooler - who say's these things aren't upto the job
Gearing isn't really an issue on a 2.0ltr, if a 2.5ltr then yes longer ratios would be better suited, you've only got to take a ride in a well set-up Forrester STi to appreciate this. Pre MY06 STi models then yes JDM everytime, twin scroll set-up, DCCD-A transmission, better cam profiles, folding mirrors, rear window wiper etc however now we have the 2.5ltr STi here in the UK I'd be choosing these for a road car. Awesome performance from just a remap but mate it to a suitably sized blower and you can have in excess of 400bhp/400ftlbs easily with a very wide torque spread which makes it an awesome point to point car and very easy to drive to boot. All STi's come with the DCCD-A transmission so no real advantage in the chassis stakes either anymore
although some would argue that the ever_so_slightly smaller rubber will provide less grip
