When I had the PPP kit fitted at the 1K service they came and picked my car up for me and gave me a courtesy car for a few days.

New to the world of subarus I gave the guy who came to pick the car up my spare key and thought no more about it.

Two days later and the guy comes back to drop off my car, parks up and comes over and gives me the key back.

Being the spare I put it back out of the way and go over to see what difference the PPP kit has made - and you know what is coming - I turn the key to ignition, the engine fires up but stops again as soon as I release the key. Perplexed I try again...same result - then it clicks and I go retrieve the spare and try it and viola! engine running.

Until I got my the other key recoded I used to leave it out downstairs so that if someone did break in looking for the keys they would find it and fart around for ages trying to start the car - giving me (if I'm in) time to ring the police etc or maybe putting them off entirely if I wasn't around.

In effect a 'dummy' key.

Seemed like a good idea at the time - any thoughts ?

Is this post for real?

Really I am not trying to start a fight or upset anyone but if someone wants your car they are taking it!

I have a friend who was sleeping in his bed and woke up to a man standing over his bed with a gun. He made him go to his garage, open it and drive the car out (SL 500) before jumping in it and taking it. At the same time they thought they would take his wife’s BMW 330 too.

Were you live is not that bad! I live in Islington but park on a weekly basses in Hackney and Walthamstow and have no prob's.

I have a cat one and a span off momo what gets taken out every time i park.

Most prob the best thing u can do is get a span off as there is no one driving your car away with out it having a steering wheel!

But the main thing is if someone really wants your car they will have it! End of!!!
